What is the 'old' TalkBass?

I was in my early 40's when I joined and now coming up on 70, my opinions on a few things have changed.

Yeah, I said PC a page or two ago, but for me that is really proxy for being more polite and consistent (that's still PC... happy accident).
I lurk there from time to time. It’s the same dozen guys having the same convos over and over. Hasn’t been the same since Gravity Jim’s third rage quit.
much less members. more of a close knit community.
By next year, we'll all be replaced by AI.
I'll just get this out of the way now: Jaco didn't need no "adblocker".
I bought my "big" rig from Chef, and plan on rocking that 700RB-II for decades to come.
reminds me of a time as a kid at a suburban bus stop; old timer bending my ear, in a Polish accent, waving his arms broadly around the immediate area; “Go-ats, sheeeeep, peeegs, cows. No peeeeeple”!
I’m that old timer now.
I first joined in 2004 and was around for some of the legendary trolls (e.g. NickTheBassist) and the earth-shatteringly controversial actions (e.g. banning Ken Smith and Jeff Berlin).
I don't feel like the vibe has changed all that much. We still have our people we get along with and people who like to rile others up. We still have those who willingly lend a helping hand to a question asked for the umpteenth time and those who bark, "do a search!" We have those who offer insight into a topic and those who just jump into say inflammatory stuff to cut the OP or other people down. We have those who embrace modernism and those who still cling steadfastly to the tried 'n true "old ways."
To me, it's just like any community, be it online, in school, in your town, etc.
One difference I see is that we have fewer "flavor of the month" zeitgeists. Like I remember a period of time in my early days (early 2000s) when it felt like everyone clowned on Warwick (calling them Warwank), Ibanez (calling them I-Been-Hadz), and other brands. Probably it was because nu-metal was the dominant form of music and music elitists were all, "Bah, that ain't real music!" But then again, that elitist attitude towards modern music is still present among people.
So, yeah, to me TalkBass is still pretty much how it's always been as far as I know. And maybe my mentality and mindset have changed (I was 26 then and am 45 now).
And from then until now, I've met some wonderful people in person thanks to the classifieds. Ergo, TalkBass feels like more than just an online forum. It really is a community. Like, wow, I actually shook hands with some of the people here. They're not just words on a screen, they're people.

There was an attempt at a flatwound club... I was #1... I think it just faded into obscurity tho.
