What is your fav 5 string?

I would look at the Lakland DJ5. I just got one and love the sound. Its very even sounding from string to string with great tone. There is also an option to have a active preamp installe it thats more your taste. Just another excellent option.

ahh its as cheap as chips and not the pretties bass around but I still love my godin bgV with the bassline ssb5s and an audere 5 band she will pretty much sound like anything I want I can get a reasonable P bass a very convincing modern or old school jazz and a great slap tone ... it fits like an old shoe and if I bang it against something I don't curse myself everytime I see it .. what more could you want

I can't stop posting pic's of this bass but too me this is the best bass I have ever owned.....period.

It's a bit out of your $1500 price range but the extra few bucks to get something like this is well worth the extra cash IMO.

#1: My Fodera Imperial "Richard Bona" is the best 5er I have ever laid my hands or eyes on.
#2: $1500 would get you a nice MusicMan, a great bass for the money, good second-hand value. Or maybe you could be happy with a Warwick Streamer/Thumb BO(if you can handle the husky necks..).

is one hell of a deal fot the money. I have one with flatwounds on it and it sounds and plays great. Has a much better string to string eveness and B string than some basses costing much, much more.

Of what I've played:

MTD 535
Jerzy Drozd Excellency
Hamer Cruise USA w/2Tek
Various Skjolds, all of which have been outstanding

Hopefully my incoming Ken Smith lives up to some of those.

In your price range, I'd look at used Modulii or Stingray 5's. The American Standard P-5 was also quite impressive to me, but if it isn't your thing, it isn't your thing. :)

I play An Ibanez - but I also like Musicman - You can find some in your range.
Dont set your sights on a def. price range. You should go to your music store and just feel out a broad range of 5 strings. You might find that your perfict bass is less than you thought - Mabe in the $800 range, or mabe it is 2000.00 - which is just a little more than you were thinking - but if you are willing to shell out 1500 what is 500 more if the bass is worth it. Take your time - no impulse buys - trust me, wait it out - look for sales.
If you do the research you will end up with a better bass than you had thought before.

such a good idea but i cant as here in cyprus we dont realy have good music shops...we have some but the bass part of them realy sux you can only find beginner basses.. thats why i m searching on internet.. i know its realy sad :( dont be sory for me xD
