+1. I definitely hate post-Gabriel Genesis, but love almost everything from the Gabriel + Hackett era. Just to mention the first song that popped up in my head, I'd say "Watcher Of The Skies".

Watcher of the Skies is my favorite, mostly because the band I was in during the mid-70s did a very credible rendition of it. In bars, no less! The fact that it was generally well-received in those kind of venues says something about the tastes of the listening public at the time.

Undoubtedly No Reply at All. Sick bassline from Rutheford. Phil Collin's vocals are awesome (as usual). Great horn stuff (even though the horns aren't real.) Catchy, complex, poppy enough for mainstream, rock enough to be really enjoyable. Prog enough to be difficult to learn and play. (thus fun to learn or play ) .

Reminds me of a true story. The scene: My then three year old boy in the car seat behind his Mom and I. He hears an intro.
"MoooooMMMMM! Wouder!!! Wow-der!!!!"
She turns it up a little.
"No! Wow-der!!"
She turns it up. It's quite loud. His head is nodding. He mumbles the verse....then...

"And da Wam, wies down, on BWOOOAARDWAYYYY!!!!"

I do like the Phil Collins Genesis. I thought they brought a really quirky, wonderful musicianship to rock/pop music. And..this was back before you had to be pretty and 19 to be popular.

Probably my favorite albums are Abacab, Genesis, Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance. I do like Duke as well.

Amen. It's difficult to believe my all time fave, Turn it on Again, was a such huge radio hit. Same w/Abacab; it's so damn musical while still being pop. There's just so much energy and intensity w/o the sillyness you see in today's pop.

Actually the horns are real. They were arranged by Earth, Wind & Fire's Thomas Washington and played by EWF's horn section.
