Duuuude. LOVE ya work on that funk track! Funky improvisation.. there's nothin better. And man that's the best backing track I've ever heard, what is it ? How can I get it ?

Ah thanks man! The backing track is actually streamed from spotify!

From a bass practice-tracks album,

Search for Practice-tracks

Then look for the album 'jazz for bass players volume 1'

And the song '4/4 swing funk minus bass'

And that's the track I used (It's in Bb!)

some that I play with say that I'm able to act as an ideal glue between rhytmic and melodic instruments, because, usually, they say I play with a pleasant melodic feel but the fundament of the music remains huge no matter what I play...
These are not my words...really I play what my instinct suggests me, so no great thing to praise...

I feel it's just my technical playing proficiency, I've spent the last 5 years just focusing on getting my hands to do what I want them to do, no matter how difficult. I'm at the point now where I've focused so hard on just getting the chops that I can do anything, but don't really know what to do. I am now turning my focus to knowledge, as I am lacking on theory and chords and positions and all that.

I tend to play pretty high up on the fretboard which I haven't seen a lot of bass players do and people seem to dig it, that and i bring a funky/jazzy tone to punk rock at it just sounds better to me. I do tend to overplay and goof off a bit too much, however. Need to work on that.

playing to what the song wants, not what I want. I have very good sense of intonation on fretless having also played trombone for 45 years. I am told I have an uncanny ability to be able to anticipate chord changes even with a song I've never heard before..I can't tell you how I do it...possibly playing trombone in various jazz bands over the years has helped me with that.

Weak points...slap and pop...I've never figured it out well enough to play it in front of people...I guess I'm in good company...Jaco never quite got it either (from what I'm told). Also, not much of a soloist. I could solo fine on trombone; not so well on bass.
