What pedal do you think IMA is teasing here?

Apparently IMA is offering a 10% discount on preorders in his email about the release.
I already ordered and haven't seen an email from IMA.

I saw in the Walrus page a signup for 15% off. Maybe that’s a good route, maybe they won’t do it with this? Try it.

Wasn't going to jump initially, but I did this and got it down to like $637 and change with fee 2 day shipping. That's the sweet spot for a piece like this for me.

I'll be curious to see how this pans out. I really like the style and large aluminum knobs. It's got nods to three very cool preamps in the 1073 and 312 tonally, and an Avalon U5/M5 in the preset EQ positions tied to stepped pots. Both the 1073 and the 312 are remarkably flat in terms of frequency response until you start adding a significant amount of gain. I'll be curious to see if Walrus chose to follow that design philosophy when the EQ controls are centered, or if they've baked in some coloration at lower gain settings to make it feel like it's doing something more apparent. I also balk a bit at the marketing description of a 312 having an airy top end. When I think of famous recording preamps with an extended high frequency response that could be described as airy, a 312 is not it. I own several, and they happen to be one of my all-time favorites, even moreso than a 1073, but their magic lies in the upper midrange, not up in the airy extended high frequency range. For that kind of thing my brain goes to things like an SSL 9000 series, or the aforementioned Avalon and specifically anything paired with their AD2055 EQ section.

Trying to decide… if I’ve gotten by with an MXR DI until now… is this just overkill for someone like me? Is this unit more for people who need pro setups or spend a lot of time in the studio?
I think it will be overkill for most of us. But I am also very limited in my knowledge. I want it as a show of support for IMA if I'm being completely honest (I got back into playing because of his love for it) and in the hopes that I need to use it for studio and/or live in the future.

This is very much a high end niche product and it's pretty clear it's competing against the Noble, or at least that's how it looks and sounds to me. I'm sure the players in the Worship Pedalboard thread are going to geek out once they see this.

I wouldn't buy this and take it to the crummy dive bar gigs I play today but if I was in market for a high end studio quality DI and was still in the church scene you better believe I'm hyped for this.

It seems like every decently priced preamp pedal has a DI out as do any number of compressors or cab sims, and I've yet to see anyone say a bad thing about the DI on these pedals. But I'm also not a studio bassist getting paid for the world's most awesome tones.
