Usually Dunlop Super Bright Nickels 40-100. I love those strings because they remind me of the best parts of a cross between steels and nickels. I have one with Dunlop flats, though. They're really cool as well, but mostly I'm about the rounds.

Heavy gauge EB Cobalt flats on my Fender Steve Harris P, medium gauge EB Cobalt flats on my Fender Classic 50s P, and medium gauge D'Addario Stainless on my Fender American Standard P.
Any one have experience with Ernie Ball hybrid slinky's, and DR sunbeams or DR black beauties, and how they compare?
Mainly Rotosound nickel r/w 45-105 (funk/rock)
Also D'Addario flats and semi-flats and RS ground half-flats, all 45-105 (reggae/old r&b)

For me Rotosound Funkmaster66 SS or nickel, light-gauge (30-59-70-90), roundwound strings although I have these strings in all basses I own not due to the specificity of the P bass but to the properties of the strings themselves, which allow for a very low specific tension to be maintained.
I also noticed that these strings tends to age well, keeping a certain level of clarity also after one year of use.

I got one with Dean Markley Helix rounds, one with Fender 9050 ml flats, and another with SIT Silencers. I like them all.

Well, If I had a P-bass (again), it would be DR fatbeams, like the rest of my basses... unless I got a gig with a strict Motown act, in which case a set of random flats would do it for me.
