What strings have red silk at the headstock?

Old thread but seems a useful place to request help in identifying the strings I need. I am trying to find out what strings are on my 5 string Peavey Cirrus so I can buy a set for my 6 string Cirrus. There is only red silk at the top and no taper on top or bottom. They are a bit mellow so I think they are nickel wound or coated. Please the the picture. Thanks in advance!! View attachment 4721902

Those look like TI flats to me.

The ball ends are brass color.

And no silk on ball ends.

Roundwound with red silk only at the tuner end and brass ball ends = GHS Boomers.

One thing we don't know for sure is whether they're the regular Boomers (hex core) or the Round Core Boomers as they both come with the same red silk and there is no way of distinguishing them by appearance.

I have a similar conundrum. I got a used bass and can't figure out the strings. They look like Rotosound SS66 but I know they are not because I have them on another bass and the ball ends are not colored and the red slik is of a darker color, not purplish but a darker more burgundy red than the Rotos. The strings look identical to the rotosounds and feel similarly abrasive. It has the coiored silk on both ends, and the ball ends are brass colored while the Rotos have blue/white/red

A couple of pics would help - one at the headstock and one at the bridge. Please and thank you...

Any idea how old those strings might be? They do look very much like Rotos except for the fact the ball ends are not colored. Depending on their age, they could be an older version before they started color-coding their ball ends.

thanks, they seem pretty new, I've taken them off the switch the pickups and upgrade the electronics and they didn't seem very grooved or dirty but the G string seems to be coming apart around the tuner...I can see metal wires in between the silk .I thought it could be some mystery brand rotosound replicas as they feel and look similar to the rotosounds.

I noticed this thread and thought to comment since I didn't know what these strings are but I got some replacements strings to try out on it so I don't need to keep these strings, and will likely put the Rotosound SS from the other bass on it. I got 4 new string sets so I will be playing some musical chairs with the strings and my basses.

UPDATE: I changed the strings and threw them away, they seemed to be coming apart under the slik at the tuner end, anyway......this bass sounded a bit quiter than my other ones and I thought it could be because i didn't replace the input jack, but once I put the D'addario nickel wounds, it got a whole lot louder. It's warmer, just as bright as it was before but with the added warmth around it. I also noticed now it didn't buzz so much so I could remove some relief from the neck. It's now just as loud as my other basses, and my wife commented it sounded 'warm'

I figured to old strings wouldn't be of any use since I got a spare set of SS rotosound I took off the other bass. On that bass, I wanted to make it warmer, and putting back the stock d'addario nickels did that, so I'm ok now. I guess I'm not crazy about the rotos ss
