I like a bright, growly, and punchy tone. I'm not quite sure what strings would help me achieve this. I was looking at ernie ball super slinky but I'm not sure. Any opinions?

I'd go with the Steels: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/rotosound-rs66ld-long-scale-swing-66-bass-strings?pfm=sp

This or perhaps DR? (I forget though, long time not using any roundwounds,..Hi Beam (?) CMIIW..)Rotosound Swing 66. Roundwounds.
Bright, punchy and zingy with just the right amount of growl, especially when new. They, like all other strings, mellow out then die with age.
I use them on J's, P's and a Ric.
I've never been dissatisfied with them.
I prefer the stainless steel version below:

But it all depends on if you prefer nickel.
Choosing strings it can be hard enough!
For me, the best choice are DR Hi Beams Roundwounds. They give me a nice tone, touching, tension and important too: don´t eat my frets like Rotosound does.
I like too Ernie Ball, rounds too. I think that it´s the cheapper version of DR, but it works for me too. Sometimes I strung my PBass with them, and I got a good tone too.
