What to do about confederate flag bass?

That's still nobody's concern but the owner of the guitar. I wouldn't buy a bass if the finish wasn't what I wanted. If the OP was offended by the rebel flag paint job (nicely done, I might add), he should have passed on it. I may not have bought it; but, to each his own.

You can argue that it spins in the other direction, but Hitler kinda ruined that symbol - clockwise or counter clockwise for a very, very, very long time. ;-)

Finally, Godwin's law. Just a matter of time on this one.

I'm from the south and not offended by the flag at all but realize that many people have been taught to feel a certain way about it when they see it. I think flags or any sort of "statements" on basses is just plain cheesy and/or tacky. Like people with bumper stickers all over their car.

There were any number of statements by Confederate leaders who talked about the necessity of maintaining slavery, and slavery was based solely on race in the USA. No white person in America was a slave in 1861. I am
not saying no whites were poor or suffering, but they were legally human, and not property that could be bought and sold. Supreme Court Justice Tanney said in Dred Scott, that "a black man had no rights a white man was bound to respect."

Personally, I don't want to get involved in politics or racial discussions. I did enough of that here for years, but the unwillingness to acknowledge that defending slavery was at the heart of the Confederate cause is just dishonest playing with words.

All the talk of states rights and not backing down meant nothing without slavery as its motivation. Remove slavery, and there were no issues powerful for a Civil War in America.

The civil war was fought for the same reason as ever war: money.
Dude slavery was just the whipping boy for money. Slavery was the means to financial success in agriculture. No slaves means no(big) money to be made in growing anything. A fact that is still true. While slavery may be inhumane and wrong by any measure the slave owners fighting to retain their slaves were only fighting to retain their ability to make money.
Can you imagine of a law was made to take away the ability to do computer science? You'd have every computer nerd in the country go out and buy a gun.

It's certainly very clearly the primary, and nearly the sole reason for Mississippi's secession as written in their own secession declaration.

And I believe we've covered all the potential resolutions for taking care of the bass itself. Any further discussion on the flag can be taken to a different forum.
