What to do about confederate flag bass?

It's like it's gonna kick of over f£&@£@& bass. What ever it represents to anyone you are missing the point, even if where any old flag. And that is, it looks poopie anyway.

I would not put a union flag on my bass cause it make you look like a tit.
It doesn't matter what the symbol is, someone somewhere is going to think it's evil, a really good example of this is the swastika, once a symbol used the world over to represent the sun is now a symbol for the evil tyranny of Nazisim. Even the "chicken foot" symbol, a.k.a the "peace sign", is thought by some to be evil. What folks fail to realize though is it's not what YOU think the symbol means, it doesn't matter what power YOU assign to the symbol - what matters most, especially for someone trying to be a public figure (like a musician) is what meaning/power the public assign to it. You can yell and scream and kick and fight about it all you want, changing "public perception" is impossible, any attempt to say "b,b,b,but I'm not using THAT way" is futile. It simply doesn't matter what YOU think, sorry to put it that way but sometimes the truth is a cold hard mistress.

Well, it may be funny to YOU, but in the States, this kind of thing is something we're struggling with as a society. The USA has its glories and its faults, and racism is a wound to our society that many are still hurting from. It's NOT a point of humor or pride... or it shouldn't be.

I believe we are talking about two different ideologies.
That flag reminds allot of people of their homes, families and the spirit and hospitality found only there. Myself included.
I deplore bigotry in any form. Including revisionist history that wants to demonize an entire region for the sins of their fathers.
Maybe to you the ideology is racism, but to us it is the Southern experience. Crawfish boils, fish frys, pot lucks, old couples doing a smoking two-step, the list goes on. None of which has regular cross burnings or lynchings.
I get how most folks have a narrow-minded view of the South but doing so with an air of superiority is ignorant plain and simple. Maybe its time to take a vacation down to the deep South and see if your opinion is right?
For the record I don't own a confederate flag, nor any flag for that matter. I don't care for its negative reputation though and I'm happy to defend everyone's right to display one without a supremacy group membership.
It's just downright ugly as is. No politics, just ugly. A custom gloss red would be hotter than heck....
I was just going to mention the swastika. To add to what you said, just changing the direction that it faces turns it into a Buddhist symbol (when facing left is called a "sauwastika"). It's found on the chest, palms, and feet of the Buddha.
I can't imagine how many people have seen that and been shocked because of sheer misinformation.

You can argue that it spins in the other direction, but Hitler kinda ruined that symbol - clockwise or counter clockwise for a very, very, very long time. ;-)

Unfortunately, the concrete example in this case was the right of the individual states to allow enslavement of people.
"Dixie Pride", "Southern Pride", etc...... LOL
Funny that there doesn't seem to be anything equivalent in the way of "Northern Pride".... and they won the war. Haven't really heard much about lotsa people in New York who vehemently celebrate the bravery of their distant male relatives who died bring an end to the enslavement of millions of people. Seems a much more noble thing to be proud of, don't you think?

I travel a lot and get to the South often. You should be proud because you are basically good people. I never had a problem with Southern Culture, although I heard it might be "on the skids"...I regress.......Had lunch in the Gettysburg battlefield the other day, there on business. I wouldn't call it bravery, for both sides, I would call it suicide.
