What to do about confederate flag bass?

That might fly in Syracuse, NY but don't ever plan to go down south with it. You will not make it out of the parking lot.
The confederate flag isn't a symbol of racism (despite uninformed belief). It's a symbol for standing up to those who will impose their will on you.
That being said, I'd strip it down and re-do it all together. That flag on a guitar is just fugly.
I'm from the South, I know the history, and I've known people who are very fond of this symbol. I want no part of it.
I do not see that as irony. Black power is specifically about race. The confederate flag and civil war had very little to do with racism or slavery.

I'm not going to get into a political discussion about the rights and wrongs or reasoning for the war. I was merely pointing out that those who adopted the flag as a "symbol for standing up to those who will impose their will on you" certainly had no problems about imposing their will on others. I'm in the "refinish it" camp. Although the "blue over the stars and make it a reverse Union Jack" idea. Maybe you could roadworn the crap out of it and then stencil over an American flag?
Maybe something like this is underneath it. Just with some acetone you can wipe the current bad paint job right off...
The vast majority of confederate soldiers neither owned slaves nor did their families. Many of them never believed they were fighting for the right to keep slavery.
I do understand your point, and history shows that the right course of events took place. But like most historical events, not everything thing is as simple as it may seem.
I'll leave it at that!

Sorry, I thought the thread was about the symbolism depicted on the bass and how to contrast that symbol with another opposing symbol I didn't realise it was merely about the dispensation of the bass.

Show me one here past the OP that isn't. Unless you just want to bash a "southern boy" for expressing his thought on the thread.
