What to do about confederate flag bass?

Embrace your inner redneck and keep the bass as-is. If you're African American or Latino or some other ethnicity that isn't normally associated with the redneck stereotype it will make the situation all that much more humorous. Only in America.
It's a Peavey Foundation, not a '59 Jazz (there had to be prototypes). You obviously don't like the flag on it so either sell it or do a refinish. Have fun with the refinish, you can do it yourself.
More hate in this thread than the flag ever started ....

Do an Eddie Van Halen thing. Or just paint the white stars blue, or cover them with little skulls.
Guess it depends on were you live. I am down south and even in a populated area that has colleges, and a more progressive culture, it still would not even be noticed. Even most of the African-American folks here don't pay much attention to Ole Dixie on something like that. We got preppy college girls with a touch of redneck in them sporting "G.R.I.T.S" (Girls raised in the south) t-shirts and bumper stickers with that flag on, and in my neck of the woods people are a bit desensitized to it. So I understand that in other parts of the country it could be a big deal, if and it was mine...I would use it as an excuse to start sanding and painting a new finish.

Oh sure, the Black Power symbol is no more offensive that the Confederate flag. This is a joke, right?I am getting a nice Peavey bass in trade for a Jasmine by Takamine acoustic... The Peavey model has 2 super ferrites parallel to each other. I forget the model but remember it is a US made Peavey from the 80s. I didn't get to see the headstock so someone should know off the top of their head.
It has the confederate flag on it. It is nicely done (if that can even be said,) and I don't want to turn away this trade or refinish it.
I would rather obscure it with another symbol(s) that contrasts it. Like maybe the black power fist right in the middle of the pickups or as an extension of the black pickup, and maybe a rainbow colored peace sign in one of the open areas. I don't want to overdo it, but I want something prominent enough that people will look twice after they see the confederate flag, and maybe laugh.
Maybe someone else has a better idea. What would you do with this bass?

Yep...that is what I was thinking since there are black supremacist groups who use that "Black Power Fist" who are on record saying things just as hateful about other races, religions, and homosexuals as many of the white supremacist groups do.
Please leave it as is. If they're really as common as people say, you'd be better off selling it and purchasing one that matches your wants/needs
You probably can use aceton and wipe the flag right off. The old paint will probably be completely intact.... A little polish and she is fine. Looks to have some amazing pickups on it. If it plays nice.... just use some acetone on it and take a look at what it was before this paint job.
