The Jimmy not only gets you Jimmy Page Hiwatt tones, but also Joe Walsh Eagles, "Life In The Fast Lane" to Bad Company Theme sounds.

The Supro is sweet and very old school truly in remarkable condition for about the same price as a new Vox AC15HWX.

The original Jensens are worn out and need re-coning but that's minor.

I've been building a pretty solid sonic arsenal since about 2006.
I started with the best bass rig I could find, but also wanted the best specialty guitar amps I could find.
I also spent about $1,100.00 each outfitting a pair of high quality, tour worthy, recording worthy 2X12's

Refurbs on my vintage stuff averaged about $250.00-$325.00 plus any speakers and NOS tubes.

My friend John came over to try out the Custom Jimmy.

The Cab is a bottom ported, Reeves/Port City OS 2X12 loaded with an EVM12L & Fane Medusa 150-C
both cast frame drivers for a tight controlled response from low to high.



If I had the funds, I'd probably buy a studio drum kit, but right now more mics are a priority.

I like how they mount the gain and tone shaping stages on the top panel and the output stage on the bottom. Is that a reverb tank on the right? The pattern in the case covering just rocks. It is a beautiful piece of industrial art and design, IMO. :cool: The guy who wrote "The Guitar Amplifier Handbook" recommends using two different sized speakers but you don't see too many amps that do so.

Yup, I like putting the weight at the base for balance and improved cooling.
It has both Reverb and Vibrato on board.
The amp was actually featured in an article which raved about the condition.

That being said, a 50 year old amp will need occasional TLC.
I just think of them like adopting a cool old sports car. The upkeep is worth the ride.
I knew the speakers were shot from the seller, so there were no surprises.
Since they are matching numbered OEM originals. I'll have them re-coned and then may just
leave them boxed up for preservation.

Those Jensens were not the best Jensens anyway and I have tons of options with a 10" + 15"
configuration, as long as they fit under the tubes.

I blend speakers using a tight cast frame Ceramic to hold the low end together and a complementary mid-high speaker
to do a better job with mid and top end details.

I think that demo and James Lugo's LA Amp Fest video convinced Craig Ross to buy a Custom Jimmy for the Kennedy Center Led Zeppelin tribute.

Cheap Trick also has some Reeves gear mixed in with their Hiwatts.

I have a 1975 100W Bassman (the one in my avatar) but it's not quite loud enough- stopped gigging it a few years back. Turn it over at home occasionally and it still sounds great.
I gig a GK Fusion 550.

Here's the old girl with a 73 Tele (the Tele gives the speakers a terrible time- sounds better through the GK rig).
