What tube amp do you play?

At about 9:00 where I start to get a signal out, this thing's already packin' quite a punch. At our first outside service of the year, the Music Director asked me if I could turn down a little. I was blowing the hair off the keyboard player's head... Bummer, I was just a little past 12:00.....

Do you mind if I use that excuse next time? I promise that I'll tell them Jimmy M said so..... Next Sunday, I'm playing with my 18 year-old on a Peavey 6505+ with a 4X12, and my 14 year-old on drums. Surely I'll need my SVT to "Compete." Surely they will understand if I tell them "Jimmy said so....."

I allso have a dutch tube amp. Called Multitone with a 4x15 cabinet. Similar to the 4x15 Sunn cabinet in this thread. My cabinet is a KUSTOM (Chanute) 415B from the IV series of amps they made in the late '70's early '80's.
Hey all you tube amp guru's, I have a question that may or may not warrant its own thread, so I'll ask here first:
What sort of solid state power amp would be equal in volume to say, a 300W ampeg tube amp? The reason I ask is that a lot of manufacturers seem to be dishonest about the power of some solid state power amps, especially class D amps. So yeah, have any of you plugged in a big tube amp, then to to plug in a solid state amp and be it a similar maximum volume? Is an SVT 7Pro as loud as a 2pro/CL? How bout an 8pro or an M9 carbine?

Boy is that a loaded question! Here's the deal...watts are watts, and the vast majority of companies are honest about their wattages, but the tube amps have an ability to sound good past their RMS wattages, even if they're a bit distorted, which a lot of SS and micro amps don't, especially micros.
That is a Dual Caliper 2 i took out of it's combo cabinet and put in the head case that I got from Mesa. I left the reverb pan in the combo cabinet since I wasn't using it for bass. A friend of mine has the DC-2 now as a combo amp, I sold the head case. It sounded really nice but in the end felt a bit underpowered for some gigs I was doing around that time, but it smokes as a guitar amp.
The Sunn is a Sorado that I put a pair of Eminence Delta drivers in, now that sounded awesome!I like your Buster amp, I have never tried on on a gig only briefly at some music shop a long time ago. My friend who bought my DC-2 has an F-50 head that I tried out with my LDS 2126 but did not have the bottom end I get out of my old Fender Concert Amp; part (most) of that is probably down to the pretty small output transformer on the F-50. I'd like a bigger tube amp (200-300w watts) but they are too heavy for me to haul around these days. I checked out an Eden 300T which is a lot lighter (about the same as my former '66 BandMaster head that Kendrick Amps did some mods for me on) but I wasn't enamored with the tone, but that was at the store with an Eden cabinet IIRC, I should have brought it home to try with my own cabs.

Okay, so say if you had a 300w tube amp distorting in the power section, what sort of solid state amp would be as loud if you were to run a similar sounding distortion in pedal form before the amp, but have the power section not clipping at all?
So they would sound similar (as similar as possible I guess) but the solid state amp is running clean.

I guess that all depends on how much distortion you're dialing into the tube amp. But you can't answer that question with a blanket "this many watts in SS = this many watts in tube." All tube amps don't behave the same when you turn them up into the red.

Well for comparisons' sake. When I was experimenting with various dual rigs, it took a 500w Ampeg ss amp (into 4ohms) to keep up with my Mesa 400.
I've also owned a 100w tube Ampeg that I was able to use live, but a 100w ss Peavey no way could ever do that. So while watts comparison is merely a reference point to me....i'd say nearly need double the ss watts to keep up with the tube amp.

I have a GK 400RBIII that is rated at 240 and it's plenty loud enough with a 410 to play in a loud rock band. It has quite a bit more clean headroom than my V4b at 100 watts but it comes nowhere near the perceived volume of the SVT at 300. Had to use some figures but hope that helps.
