what was the first song you learned?

I just started learning about 5 months ago myself. My first song was Kiss of Life by Sade. I like Paul Denman's bass lines and the more melodic ones are easier for me to follow. My third song was Talk Talk's It's My Life which was very challenging for me.

I got the notes, but I'm sure I was miles away from making it groove like Chuck Rainey!

I've belonged to quite a few forums, all of which (until this one) had nothing to do with musical instruments. On one forum, my signature line was, "Clean this mess up else we'll all end up in jail. The test tubes and the scales, just get 'em all out of here. Is there gas in the car? Yes there's gas in the car. . . I know the people down the hall know who to call. . . . . "

To say that was an excellent song would be the grossest of understatements.

On guitar, Electric Funeral, by Black Sabbath.

On bass, I didn’t learn a cover for a very ling time, just came up with lines for my band’s songs.

Probably the first bass cover was Flea’s line from the Chili’s version of Higher Ground or lvl 42 Lessons in Love, when I was trying to learn slap technique.
