My first was a Squier 2 P-bass. bought for ~$150 in 1991, pawned for $40 about 6 months later because I couldn't eat it. I vaguely remember it sounding awful but then I was playing it out of an ancient PA with one nob. Good times.

My first guitar was a Vantage. That bass looks nice BTW. I loved my Vantage Les Paul. It sounded and played great as I remember it. Sold it and an amp (a big head, forget the name and a 412 cab) to a buddy a long time ago. He set it up in his basement, cranked it and actually broke a bunch of plalte glass his Dad had stored there. Dad apparently put the guitar THROUGH the cab. End of story.

1984 MIJ Squier Precision mid-scale. Olympic white / rosewood, with a warped to hell white guard.. Got it for Christmas in '92, and had a tort guard made for it.. I think my parents paid $250 for it at Rockin' Robin in Houston (major present for a 12 year old!)..

Loved that bass!! Stolen from my car in El Paso in '99..

My first was a cherryburst shortscale slammer by hamer. Absolute crap. The tone knob broke and any time you unplugged a cable from it the jack would break. People always said it looked nice

A black Hondo Explorer bass. I got it in high school in the 80s. I think the keyboard size Canadian made case was actually nicer than the bass itself but this thing was pretty badass looking. It was really a P bass hiden under the pointy angles.

Pearl pink early 80s Peavey Foundation. With the molded case lined with brown fur. You opened the case and it looked like a 70s porn movie. I refinished it black, then natural, both poorly. I was young and punk rock and didn't see the irony in a pearl pink guitar. Wouldn't mind another foundation, would probably pass on the pink. You know what, screw it, I'd still rock the pink.

Mine was a DeArmond Pilot Plus V. Worst B string EVER. I sold it a long time ago.

After that I went to Soundgears. bought a SR505 and an SR405. Never should sold that 505. I loved it.

I've had numerous other basses, Thankfully I've gotten picky and gotten my GAS under control. I think I've owned something like 14 or 15 basses and only have 3 still.

I think I bought (paper route money) my first bass in 1969 and wish I still had it. I really can't remember what happened to it unfortunatey and would love to find a replacement for sentimental reasons. Though it had no name on it the guy I bought it from said it was a Crestwood. Here's a photo that looks really close to my first bass.

If anyone sees one like this available somewhere please let me know.

I had an Ibanez GTR70. However, it didn't have the "Gio" logo on the headstock. It just said "Ibanez".

I loved that bass. I paid for it by cutting grass and not eating lunch at school.
