a white hagstrom .... got it in the mid '77 and it seemed old then. Wish I still had it now. Shortly after that in '78 I traded up to a brand new P-Bass ... hmmm ... wish I still had that one too ...

No, Mine had two pickups, the body was a bit thicker. It was a bit nicer than most TDR's I've seen.

EDIT - I found on like it online. The vine on the pickguard is worn away on this one, but this is the one!!

Oh I remember seeing those back when! the local music store had a ton when I was a kid. But mostly 6 strings in that model I had a Kay SG copy that looked like that but more the the ESP viper model of today with a shorter horn on the bottom not sure if it was a factory reject or what but I had never seen one like it again ever.

My first bass was a Telestar bought at G.C. Murphys (Murphy's Mart) in 1971. I had been using a neighbor's bass on and off until then.

Mine looked EXACTLY like this one currently on ebay except that mine said Telestar instead of Kimberly.

Peavey T-40 in 1983. Never learned to play it, though. In fact, I didn't seriously take up bass until 20 years later, and that was with a Peavey Foundation that's still my go-to bass.

Pearl pink early 80s Peavey Foundation. With the molded case lined with brown fur. You opened the case and it looked like a 70s porn movie. I refinished it black, then natural, both poorly. I was young and punk rock and didn't see the irony in a pearl pink guitar. Wouldn't mind another foundation, would probably pass on the pink. You know what, screw it, I'd still rock the pink.

I did end up getting another foundation recently, but unfortunately it wasn't pink.

Came up in another thread, but I thought it would be interesting. It seems a lot of us have warm stories of our first... bass, sometimes with touches of 'the one that got away', and thought this would be interesting, .
Mods - if I'm in the wrong forum, I apologize now.
My TRUE first was an ugly Cort. I block that one out. The one I played for a long time was a weird hybrid - a P bass w/a Tele bass neck. Probably not collectible, and with all kinds of 'character marks' including that cigarette burn on the headstock by the string tree.
I took it for granted, sold it in a fit of GAS for an ESP V-er and the cash three years ago. I love the ESP, but would give it back for my first Fender ANYDAY...

I had an early G&L L-2000 E. Didn't know what I had at the time, but I sold it for about $400 more than I paid for it. Can't say I miss it, but knowing what I know now it would be cool to play it again to see if it would be a keeper now!

Mine was a cobalt blue Squier Affinity P that I played until it fell apart. Which, considering how many times it was dropped it on concrete, was a surprisingly long time. I still have it and may fix it up some day, but for now it sits on a wall. It may be a broken piece of trash, but it was and always will be MY broken piece of trash!

My first bass was a Hondo All-Star. The neck had bowed so much that it was nearly impossible to play and the truss rod didn't work (I still worked out Geddy Lee bass licks on it - painfully). I hated that bass so much that I got a job and saved several paychecks to buy my way out of having to play it. I replaced it, a year later, with an Aria Pro II RSB.

Mine was a 1969 Gibson EB-3 I purchased new. I saw Jack Bruce playing an EB series bass (probably an EB-0) I just had to have one
