What was your first bass guitar?

Used 2007 Fender Aerodyne (Export Edition)

I found it on the website for a chain of pawn shops about 1000 miles away. A phone call or two requesting pics, half a day of stewing over "Will I/Won't I" in my head, then saying "Eff it! It's my damn birthday!!". One more call, a quick transaction and a few business days later and there she was!

The finish chips were a little surprising, but one setup plus a new set of strings and everything worked like a dream!

First good bass '71: Used '68 Gison EB0 modded to EB3 configuration with added DeArmond bridge pup, frets ripped out and board puttied.

First new bass. '77 Gison Ripper fretless from Kalamazoo - still played every day!

A white Washburn Lyon P Bass copy. I miss those days. The day I got the bass I went to band practice with my battery powered Harmony guitar amp. I didnt know how to play at all. Neither did my "band". We didnt even tune. Ever.

A '99 Squier P bass. I still have it. I also modded the heck out of mine. Gawd I love that bass. The black and red was before. It was modded then of course but after I stripped it, that is when the real modding began. What a fun project/bass. I will be buried with that bass.

Me too my parents got it for me from a dept store called Two Guys $54.00 I no longer have it loaned it to my older brother some years ago and he traded it for a drum cymbal. I will see if I can find any pictures of one like mine online

A piece of cardboard I tore off the top of a box and drew frets on with a marker, wish I still had it. Then I got an Ibanez Gio off of Craigslist with a little like 15 watt Dinosaur amp that's just awful for $150, still have that.

You know the neck on that P bass is still intact unlike the EKO. Nice trade.

I traded the '62 P in when I bought a '76 String Ray... the Bass had been through a Fire (the club I was working was burned) so it was refinished and the neck was a little twisted......

In 1964 this Kent was already quite old and had a very thick, bowed neck. But, it was mine!

1963 Gibson Thunderbird, one of the first 300 made. got it when I was eight years old. Standing on its butt end it was taller than me. I could barely reach the first fret. Unfortunately it got knocked off its stand when I was 12 and split the neck. It was repaired but never the same.

From late 1967. My first "real" bass a Raven T2B Teardrop with the Vox logo pasted over the Raven logo. From this I moved onto a Hofner.

Awkward, I started learning bass about a month ago, ordered a custom u-bass from Vietnam (1st photo, almost done, I had him extend the fretboard to be thumb rests), but while waiting for it, I bought a Gold Tone GT MicroBass.

My first bass was a lame red '97 Squier Jazz. It was so cheaply made, the body was made out of plywood -not real wood of any kind- and it kept pissing me off so much that finally one day I smashed it and threw it in the dumpster. lol.
Haven't regret it.

This is it in my avatar. It is a cardinal red Aria Pro II Special II. As you can see I am restoring it. I had to colour match the paint but I only needed spot repairs. Years ago I replaced the pickups with some nice EMG's and lost the cases. I am going to get new pups wound and set in new casses I cast myself.

Mine was a Tokai vb-80 1 piece back mahogany, beautiful flame top.
Like this, but cherry sunburst.
Long gone I'm afraid.

That was quickly replaced by a 78 Aria Pro II SB700, which I loved, but was stolen.
