First was a Danelctro in 1963.
My playing has varied depending on what else I was doing. I started in the Navy, so it was most weekends.
When I got out of the Navy, it was full time, so almost every night both doing local clubs and touring.
Then I didn't play at all for a few years. Now I practice every night, rehearse with the band once a week, and play out once or twice a month.
Hard to see which is number one now. I have P Select and an AM J and I bounce back and forth between them. For our acoustic gigs, I use my Mike Kelly Dragonfly. But, if I had to chose one, I'd say the P because I've always been a P guy. Only got the J in 2008.

First electric bass I ever played was a '72 Fender Jazz. Belonged to my cousin.

First bass I actually owned was a Ripper. A picture of it is what I use for my avatar.

My primary bass? Gibson L9-S Ripper. Purchased new in April 1974. My primary bass 04/1974 through 10/2015. And counting.

My first bass was an 85 Japanese Squier P bass.
In the late 90's the neck warped and it became unplayable.
I put a new Mexican neck on it 2 months ago and it's become my main player again. In a jazz/rock trio.

My first was a Squier MB-4, but w/o the skull & crossbones.

Now I use a Fender Blacktop for E standard & a G&L ASAT for drop-tuned stuff.

My First bass was a Norma which falls in with the Teisco brands bass from the 60's got it for Christmas when i was 11 in 1969 brand new $54.00 Jazz copy
Now I own many basses. but my workhorse is my 70's Gibson Ripper purchased brand $575.00

My first bass is a 1976 Ripper. Got it used about 30 years ago. It was my only fretted bass until a year ago. I now also have an SX P and an import Sterling (SB14).

All three are great, different from one another and get a fair amount of play. Hard to pick one. The Ripper will get played even more once I get it re-fretted.

First bass, 1984 Ibanez Roadstar II with PJ pickups that had problems. Needed a tuners replaced, and the J pickup was dead, or at least sounded that way. I paid $100.00 for it in 2002.

My current "main" bass, the one getting the most play is a 2014 Squier Affinity Jazz that I customized.

I play mostly blues and classic rock.

My first bass was a Gibson EB-2 (like the one in the photo on the left), that I bought at Livingston's Pawn shop in D.C. for $150 in 1972. My current player is a Scott Beckwith (of Birdsong) fretless "Shortbass" that he made for me last year (actual bass pictured). Lots of other basses (Fenders, a Ric, and miscellaneous others) in between.

My first bass was a Japanese P bass copy that I picked up in 1966 for $50. I think the brand name on it was Aiwa. The coolest band in Jr. high school needed a bass player and asked me if I played. I didn't but said yes anyway. Played it for a couple of years and had to sell my amp (50 watt bassman) to pay damages for when I wrecked my dads car. The bass sat in a closet for a few years after that until I traded it for a bag of Columbian. Played guitar starting in my 20's for years. Next bass (my second first bass) was an Ibanez GSR200 about 12 years ago. Still have it. My current gigging bass is a 2000 mim P Bass that I picked up about five years ago. Dead stock and sounds and plays incredible. I got lucky cause I've played a couple of mims from that era that were real turds. Got a second mim P about two years ago as a backup. I done buying basses. No GAS whatsoever.
