What was your first bass guitar?

A Sunn Mustang :) It was a real Fender allright, although it didn't say it on the headstock (only 'made by FMC'). It had 4 strings and that's about all that was positive about it :D

Sold it for a Bass Collection after about 1.5 years. When I joined this board, I found out that the Sunn series was even cheaper than the Squier series. I guess that's why it didn't say Fender on the headstock :p

Mine was a bright red 1988 Peavey Fury that I bought brand new, it was also my first ever credit card purchase. I got the credit card on a Friday, and on Saturday my Dad went to the local music store with me to "shop around" before I decided on something. When I played it, his tune changed to "Oh, buy it, buy it"!

I miss that bass.

My first bass was a 1982 Fender Precision. (bought new in '83) It is Black with a black pick guard and a rosewood fingerboard. I still have it and it's in very good condition but it hasn't been played in 10 years. Thats when the 5 string bug bit me!

Mine was a black Fender Squire..I had problems with the inputjack not tightening and I took a quarter and drilled a hole in it and used it as a spacer/washer..I sold it and have regretted it ever since. It was a great bass..I saw the guy I sold it to later and he would not sell it back to me!!!:bawl:

My first ever bass is a Cort Action bass 4 stringer. Really easy to play, really small, but sounds horrible.

I really got into bass after buying my second bass though, an MIM Fender P deluxe special. Great bass.

My first was a Peavey T-20. Here it is next to my second(circa 1984):
