What was your first bass guitar?

Mine was a Bradley P bass in sunburst.Now it's A U.S. Peavey Cirrus in Redwood with a Pao fretboard.Both 4 string.

Then: a black Memphis pee bass clone {shudders) now a Moon Modern 4, a fretless Modulus Q4, a Modded Geddy Lee Fender and a Hammer ch12 12 string.
I will never look back. I would not waste pee on the Memphis if it was on fire! It was the bastid child of a bow and arrow, and a baseball bat.

Lyon P bass. Gave it the drawn out painful death it deserved smashing it up against a wall.

My latest bass is a Peavey Cirrus but I still own every bass I've bought between the Lyon and now.

In 84 or 85 I got a used natural ash Ibanez Blazer (P Bass copy); now I play a Stingray 4HH and also have two SX basses. I'd love to get another old 82 Ash Blazer though.

My first is a Squier Affinity that's close to impossible to play. The action is terrible and the neck is bowed. One day I'm going to try and fix it. However, the Rumble 15 amp I got with it is great! In fact, I'm playing through it right now!

And my current bass is a Spector Legend. I'm going to be selling it soon, which is a little too bad because I'm starting to get some tones I like out of it, but really only with the P pick up. I might look into getting a P to replace it... I'm also not liking the scale, so it's back down to a 34" for me!

'81 Ric 4003, bought used in 1986. I still have it, but rarely play it.

My main axe these days is a Sadowsky PJ. The Ric sounds great in certain roles but it's not quite as tonally versatile as the PJ, and the Sadowsky feels a lot better in my hands.

Every time I think of selling the Ric though, I can't do it. It just sounds too good.

The old style Ibanez EDB605 in Grey Pewter finish. Luthite body, ceramic humbuckers, and 3 band EQ. I decided it as too modern and that I was a traditional kind of guy. I love my Fenders, but God, I miss that Ibby. Letting that bass go is the third biggest mistake in my life.

I was fortunate that my dad is a bass player. So when I decided to start playing, I had his 70's Fender P bass to start on.

But my first bass, as in it was '' MINE '' was a Musicman Stingray

Still to this day, I play Musicman basses, exclusively

I started out with an early cort p special copy with a sunburst finish. That was the only sunburst bass I've ever owned.

I then traded it for an esp ltd b105 in a metallic red finish.

Bought a Tokai 57 p bass copy that became my main bass.

Started playing and lightly touring and realized I needed a backup so I traded my cheap upright bass for a Fender MIJ p bass.

Started wanting to get away from the p basses so I traded the esp 5 string and the MIJ p bass for a washburn thumb bass copy. I forgot the model. It was neck through and had the best action of any bass I've played.

A little later a friend sold me his epiphone thunderbird and this became my main gigging bass.

I stopped playing in a band so I decided to consolidate so i sold the t-bird, Tokai, and the Washburn and bought my Fender Deluxe Jazz. That's where I am now. I think I'm going to stick with the Jazz for a while. In fact I'm now looking for a backup jazz because I'm getting another band together.

I wish I never sold the Tokai "57" P bass, but I do prefer my Jazz.

First was a Peavey T-40, bought new in 1982 or 1983. It was stolen in 1986; otherwise I'd probably still have it.

Now it's Fender American Series Jazz and Precision, MIM Fender project fretless Precision, G&L L-1500, G&L SB-2, and a DiPinto Belvedere. My MIA Precision is black/black/maple, just like my old T-40. No wonder it feels most like home. Still haven't played any Billy Idol or Duran Duran covers to a bunch of drunk teenagers on it though.

Started on a brand new 1978 Fender Musicmaster.

My main bass now is an '02 Fender American Deluxe Jazz V.

I started out on a Rogue SX100B four string. It was pretty bad. I traded up to a Schecter Stilletto Custom 4 pretty quickly.

Now the best I've got is a Mike Lull M5V and a Carvin Icon 6 string. Love 'em.

my first bass was a red "falcon" P bass copy with an action high enough you could drive a truck between the strings and the fretboard. Without exaggeration you could get a pretty thick pen in there without touching strings or fretboard! I then had a yamaha 4 string which i sold when i stopped playing about 6 years ago.

When i started again it was an Ibanez SR900 which i still have and my main bass is a warwick $$ 5er

My current main bass is a Valenti J4 #052 w/Nord Fat Stacks and a Sadowsky preamp.
