What was your first bass guitar?

Washburn XB100. I bought it back in 2002 new. I took it apart to respray it a couple of years ago and never reassembled it. Various parts have been borrowed for other basses.

I'll put it back together one day.

In 1975 I bought a Gibson EB-3. I believe it was around 10 yrs old then. I did not realized that I did not like it till getting a 59 Precision a year later. Know that was sweet

We go all the way back to '90. I'm a little pimple headed 13 year old. I've played piano for a while so I can read bass clef. I get stuck with a P bass looking atrocity, the bass music for the school musical and an amp that even McGuyver couldn't fix.

The strings were made of pure rust.

The action was high enough that you could fit your entire hand under the 12th fret.

Strangely I still loved that thing and keep playing bass to this day. I should have been scared from that point on.

Rickenbacker 4000 in burgundyglo, made in 1974. I paid $300 for it in 1978 and I still have it!

First bass was a Sears Harmony P bass copy, CAR with a black pickguard and maple board, back in 1984 or so. Real POS! I played an Ampeg Big Stud before that, which was owned by the school.

My first "real" bass came a few years later, in 86 or 87, a white Peavey Patriot, which I still have and still play sometimes. I've always been a Fender P bass guy, and have had a few of those over the last few years, but that Peavey and I have played it all, and done it all - metal, Jazz, country, pop, rock.

A black yamaha RBX... cant remember exact model though think 870!? bought it with my first paypacket when i was 18!!! had it for 2-3 years then sold it to a mate, then with my next papyapcket blew the lot on a '92 warwick fortress one, lovely bass and i've still git it its my main gigging bass and i'll never part with it!!!

1973 Fender Precision. Despite a slight neck hump, it was the best bass I've owned because of all the hours learning and performing on it. It sounded just like me, or maybe vice versa.
