What was your first bass guitar?

1981 Aria Pro II TSB 350 "Thor Sound".
I still noodle with it once in a while.

my first bass was a cheap harmony bass. and when i say cheap i mean cheap. if it had a truss rod, it didn't work. and i swear, the neck must have been made of rubber. because of the bendiness of the neck and the lack of a truss rod, the action was at least a half inch high. but what was cool was i could hit a note and pull back on my neck for a little whammy bar effect.

i don't have it anymore. shortly after i got it my parents split. my dad filed bankruptcy, which caused my mom to have to file (they were still married). we still had a load or two to get out of the house but didn't make it back over. in that last load was my first bass. oh well.

my first "real" bass was a fender mustang... which after 16 or 17 years of owning it, i'm finally selling it. it'll be a sad day when the deal goes down. but it's not getting any playing time.

figured this has been done before, but the TB search engine doesn't accept "first" and "bass" so here it is.

What was your very first bass?

I'll start.

It was a bottom of the line Yamaha RBX that I bought off of the bay for 50 bucks. It was bright yellow and when I got it it had a twisted and bowed neck and at about the 3rd fret there was a glob of wood putty. Needless to say the seller did not advise me of these flaws. Oh well, I kept it. I still have it however it is in many pieces at the moment. Once I bought my second bass I took it apart and spray painted the body red and blue (the colors of spiderman) for my son then put it back together. I have pics somewhere of it slung over his shoulder while he is playing it. Now that he has his second bass it has been sitting in many pieces and I've thought about putting an sx neck on it.

Your turn.
