What was your first "gigging" rig?

I bought a Gibson "Duo-Medalist" back when I had a guitar but didn't know any chords. The bass player for my first gig knew some chords, so we switched. That is how I got started on bass. That Gibson guitar amp didn't work well at all for bass, so I traded it in on a "Sound" bass amp.

That was the brand name - Sound. I later traded it for a Kustom tuck and roll. I have never come across another "Sound" amp since.

Has anyone else ever heard of a Sound bass amp?

GK 700RB-II + Behringer BB410.

Still have both, the GK is a fantastic head which would do me for a long time. Behringer, whilst it's a great cab for the money, it can be quite harsh sounding. One of the cones is vibrating/moving a lot more than it should, the GK simply is too ballsy for this cab.

Bergantino HT/EX112 set up to replace :D

It was either a '78 Bassman 100 and the Fender 2x15 cab or a Peavey Mark VIII biamping a Peavey 2x15 cabinet and a Peavey powered 2x10. Can't remember exactly which. I had both about the same time (1985-ish). Basses included Carvin LB-20, Fender 1969 P-Bass, and a Peavey DynaBass 5.

But I'm leaning towards the Peavey. I was experimenting with 5-strings and biamping before either was particularly common in my area.

peavey markIII-peavey 1810. could always shake the stage, reason I went back to 215's and a peavey 412 and ampeg 410. just no replacement for 15's when it comes to vibrating the stage, with no monitors for bass vibrations is the only way for my drummer to hear/feel me.

Later, I also had an 1820 as well. That, with the Mark VIII in bi-amp mode driving just the 18" and the powered 210 driving the internal 10's and the 10's in the 1820, was quite a powerhouse. It got just about as loud as anything I've ever needed since.

I later used a Peavey Flitecase 410 with both the 2x15 and the 1820 at times. By then I was using a Peavey ProBass 1000 or Ampeg preamp and a Peavey DECA 528. Youch!

Wish I still had that DECA, tho'.

It was in 1968, a Lafayette tube head with a Jensen 15" cab. (The gig was my own 8th grade graduation party)
Used it until 1972, then my parents bought me a
Sunn 200S for my H.S. graduation. It came with a twin JBL 15" cab.
I used that until 1980. Since then I've used just about every mfg.
and configuration out there.
Now it's an Eden WT800C with an Eden 410XLT. (for most gigs)

Yes! The guitarist in my early band used one. It was gray and had an angled shape to it. "Solid state" if I remember correctly....
I haven't come across one since.
