108 different models so far

NOTE:
1. Some of you own some fine Washburn Guitars. This list will, however, focus on basses.
2. If you know the model series but not the actual model number, please list it anyway and we'll get to the actual name for you.. I will list them in a similar manner. You might consider posting pics to see if we can identify the exact model. Lots of experts here.

MEKer, for completeness, XB125 (2003, SN 03060716, black), cripes its older than I thought. I bought it in early 2009 second-hand, in great condition. It's still great today, has needed a bit of electronics repair.
Thank you, ewe2! Glad you posted me and our club. Hope all is well Down Under. What is your headless/fretless? I don't have it listed under a Force 42 (aka Force 42) or a B-60 or the Status Series S-60 or S-70.

I see it's a model you guys haven't posted about on here. I have a serial number too if that will help and pictures.
Wow, OwenC---you have a Washburn also? What model and what serial number? Pictures would be great! I can get you a Club Member number if you are so inclined!

Hmmm...just for fun, let me guess. Is it:
--an MB-2?
--an XB-75 or 80 (same model, just different market target)?
-- an M-10 or M-13
--a CB-4 or CB-150?

Curious---so what got you over to TalkBass and how did you spot our Washburn Club?
Oh well I was trying to research my bass and I literally can't find my model online after a couple hours of research and came across this forum. I'm trying to get sell it because it has sat around my house for years not being used.

Here are a couple. Both in Russia. It may be they were made only for that area of world market. I can find them nowhere else. Sometimes such basses migrate over to us. Might be the story of you bass. Not sure, but Washburn did do stuff like that...basses made for certain areas of the world. There are also the LB-10 thru LB-50 Lyon basses. A whole line of them, Usually early 2000's. What is the serial number--just type it.

That's an easy 2002 model then. The part of the serial number that MAYBE tells us of off-USA markets is the "SS" part of the serial number. Hopefully, our very knowledgeable member SP_EB4L will see your post and give us some info about the "SS".

Usually an "S" can tell us made by Samick (IIRC) for Washburn in the Korean or Indonesian plant. With the Rock bass models (RB-2000 etc) the first letter N occurs in the serial number along with Made in Korea (lucky for us to have BOTH indicators simply telling us) Some of the XB basses in the 1990's versions have "S" but no country indicated (example XB-400's). So..now that I've rambled without an answer for you of "SS", I'll shut up and wait for SP_EB4L to clarify it for both of us! :)

Heya gang!

That's a good enigma, since it's introduction in 1994, the XB basses series that was made outside USA had an S before the serial number, this include the XB-200, XB-400, XB-500 and XB-600. It remain like this until 1996, then after their was no letter in serial and it was write beside the serial "Made in Korea" from 1997 and 1998 year of the end production. I have not explanation about the S but probably MEKer hypothesis could be right as it was for Samick. The later Lyon series that include the LB-40 seems to had been produce by the years 2k and over, I have no picture of one of those basses with a serial so OwenC you are a lucky one. One thing is sure for me is that since the 1998 the replacement model of Washburn foreign production basses was made in Indonesia, Vietnam and China. Indonesia and Vietnam for the more expensive models and China for some "low level" as the XB-102, XB-122, XB-120, XB-125 and XB-126. Even now most (if not all) of the Washburn bass production is made in China. I suspect that the Lyon Prowler series was made in China and my only hypothesis about the SS on the serial could be Samick Sino plant. Sino mean what that concern China or Chinese nationality.

I hope it help a bit.

Heya SP_EB4L...........My Thank You also, SP_EB4L. As usual, a helpful and knowledgeable explanation. Also, I did not know Samick had a plant in China. Maybe SS indeed means Samick Sino (Samick in China).

Here is all I have on these LB-40's (the most common found)
1. Here is a picture of a 2002. You see a faint sticker on the back of the headstock bottom. It has the serial number of SS02072567 according to the owner when I asked.

2. I have another picture of 2003 LB-40 with serial number OC03090621.

3. And we have OwenC's 2002 with serial number SS02102865.

That is all I have on Lyons other than the Russian pictures I just posted.

Good evening OwenC,

Usually they don't worth much on the market. Three ones was sold on eBay last year and the mean price was 80$. Here in Canada I found some on Kijiji that range between 150 and 250 CDN and the more expensive are the ones with Tobacco Sunburst colour scheme. But, it's a good plain passive PJ bass.

Here is a very nice one on Reverb, that's the most common here in North America with a similar headstock as the one found on the XB-120 (125 and 126).

Here is an LB-10 bass serial number 2050800...can only think this is a 2002 also with a different SN instead of SS or OC in front of number. But has sharkfin headstock so maybe 1992???
On eBay $159.00 I do not think it will sell at that price, but maybe....
