Hi guys,
Many years ago, I purchased a second-hand Washburn Force 8 - it was my first bass guitar. Some years later I decided to part with the Washburn and play a more recently acquired Japanese P-bass copy. As time went by, I came to regret parting with the Washburn, (especially as I had never come across another one like it except on the internet), and so started searching for another...
More time passed and I'm happy to say that I finally managed to acquire another Washburn Force 8 (serial #830920) - it needs a little set-up work but overall, I'm very pleased with it!

As you may (or may not) be able to tell on close inspection of the picture, the pickguard is a not terribly well homemade one cut from a piece of brushed aluminium. I wonder, could anyone here provide me with an accurate tracing from an original so I can cut a new one - I would be very grateful, thanks!

Glad to see you, Dogbass777....your bass is 1983. Original price was $429.00 and it is "cherry sunburst". ALways a nice bass! I am sure I can get you in touch with another owner who can give you a tracing. He'll PM you and you can tell him how to get it to you. Might take a 2-3 days, OK?

Also------and am glad you found BOTH our threads, this one for data and our main thread where you can get your number--already for you--------I have added your bass to the data list above! As you can see, here in our club we can get about any answer re Washburn including TONS more than Washburn itself can give you. So come often and let us know whats up with you.

Congrats Dogbass, I've got the same piece of beauty (1982) and she's awesome. Would it help if I just threw my pickguard onto my flatbed scanner? Could do it by monday. Force-8 rocks. For me it's the most beautiful bass Washburn ever made. That's why I got two of them. The other one is 1984 BBR with the fat humbucker. With TI flats on it, it's a killer.

Looks like you are set up with Heisenbass' help! Be sure to show us the result. Are you going to use a plastic of some sort?

Wow, that's fabulous news - thank you Heisenbass, I'd really appreciate that! At some point, I'm planning to cut a new pickguard from 3ply w/b/w plastic just like the original...
