Wow---how cool are those two basses. Both were made at the Yamaki factory in Japan. And you actually have 2 anomalies there as well, for which Washburn is well known throughout the years.
1. The first one with the 2 pots appears to be a Vulture 1 using a Scavenger bridge plus a jack input on the body face like was on Scavengers, but has the usual binding and brass nut of a Vulture 1. First glance says Scavenger for this bass, but the nut and binding lean towards anomalous Vulture I.
2. The Vulture II also has a Scavenger bridge plus a jack input on the body face like was on Scavengers.

Washburn is known for such things popping up. But, regardless, can you tell us what you like best about them?
Also would love to see your Force 8 BBR! BRR's are a favorite here also.

In terms of my favorite features, one has to be the insane volutes on both of these. I've never seen anything like it on an electric bass. Both play great and sound enormous, like a P bass but ... bigger? burlier? something like that. And obviously they look awesome.

I'm currently refretting the BBR but I'll post pics once it's completed.

BTW....volutes were not in the building specs of Washburn basses so if you have them, then you have another anomaly thing going on--a very cool one IMO. I keep files on all volutes that come to my attention on Washburn basses---very interesting historically. Can you post pictures of them?

Which volute is on which bass? Those are interesting in their sharpness. You know, a worker at the factory put them there "just because", as a supervisor would have yelled at him about it if known since they were outside spec! Hah!

Maybe tomorrow I'll post all the different volutes if I can reach into my other computer as I am changing them out right now

Welcome and congrats. What a beauty. Awesome score. Got two of these myself and can’t praise them enough: an 82 in sunburst and an 84 BBR (all black with red binding), but from the second series with the single fat humbucker, strung with TI flats. My main player at the moment.

Interesting bass. No info seems to be anywhere including in the 1998 catalog. Hmm--lemme look thru my files and old ads from then---maybe I'll get lucky. I could swear I have heard X-4000 somewhere before, dang it. SP_EB4L might have an idea about this so I hope he sees this and chimes in. Heck, for all we know it might have been made originally only for the Asian market. Glad to see you, Thundar---any other Washie stuff you can share?
You did not see you name and this bass in the database because I started the database only about 3-4 yrs ago or so. But gonna put it in there right now! That gives us 113 models among members now. ALso gives us a new piece of history. I got some digging to do.Whew!

EDIT: Is it active or passive? How many batteries if active? What is the pot and switch info? OOPS___never mind---we discussed this in 2014 and you sent me the info--I have it on file. Now to track down what its origins and story is!
