What Washburn Bass Do You Own (Database)?

Heya Ironbar---what is the serial number on the ABT? Is there any other name on it as to model? I think it is called a Force 4 ABT and the 5-stringer a Force 5 ABT. Anyone can chime in?

Yes, I've seen them referred to as the Force 4 and Force 5. In fact, a Google search using those terms leads to greater # of positive hits than using Force ABT. Here's both sides of the head stock:

Pardon, just a note: Did a little homework and Kasuga is one of a whole slew of Japanese factories making guitars from the late 40s to the present... doesn't mention Washburn in the site I went to, but hey. It's out there. I like the bass, anyway- great for 'slap', which I've been away from and am now re-interested in.

Hi Guys!

About the Force 5, Force 5, in all the Washburn Catalogues that is available on their web site between 2005 and 2008 they are called Force 4 and Force 5 but after 2009 they are called Force4K and Force5K. I don't know why, but at least the bridge is not the same and I got to investigate to find other differences between the late ones and the entry years model? As Ironbar bass is a 2006 it should be Call Force 4.

Just my 2 cents!

I agree....Force 4 ABT (series) which separates it from the 1983 Force 4. And yes, he certainly has 2006. Did not know about the Force 4K and 5K...does the K tell us it was made in Korea?

Hi MEker,

That's what I think also that K mean Korea and it appear also on the Taurus T24 and T25 as for the BB14k and the BB15K and also for the last year of the Idol bass (WB66K). I know that my Idol bass was made in Indonesia as it's write in the back of the neck. Furthermore, the older Force 4 (I mean the 2005 to 2008) was made in Vietnam as for the Taurus T24 and T25.

Thanks! You seem to be all about this- don't knock yourself out MEker! Lol. But I'm glad to know about the pedigree, etc.

My keyboardist's wife quipped that no one who doesn't have hair going down their back has no business playing that bass! I have dismissed her careless remark... and have it hiked up good and high so I can get my slap-thing back! Think John Entwhistle in that clip doing Baba O-Reilly with that Alembic Explorer. This is as close as I'll probably get! :D

Hey MEKer, do you have any clue based on the serial WHERE my bass may have been built? There seems to be very little in the way of info on the Force 4 & 5. Lots of basic specs and reviews, but nothing regarding history and place(s) of manufacture and so on. Thanks!

Hey Ironbar and Staccato: I have heard that also as to being made in Vietnam and lean in that direction as to the NV in the SN! I have left a post at the Washburn forum for some specifics as there are a couple of experts on modern serial numbers there. Hope I get a confirming response soon. I deal mainly with vintage Washies, but ALL of it is of interest to me.

Hey SP_EB4L: Do you think the NV indicates Vietnam on their basses?

Hi MEKer,

I am pretty sure of it, I got that information from different sources but surely Iriegnome could confirm it as he was working at Washburn when they start to make business with Vietnam to make their RB, the new Force and the high end Taurus series. To me NV mean Vietnam made bass serial number.
