The title is self explanatory. If you knew your next bass purchase would be the last you would ever make, what would it be?

I guess it'd have to be several hundred cases of strings.

I just made my last purchase yesterday - a used Lakland Skyline 55-01.

While the basses I own may not be the top of the line or most sought after, they feel great in my hands and that is the reason I don't want anything else.

Really hard to answer. Right now, I would say the Fender Precision Select that's hanging in a local shop. I have my Roscoe's so I think I'd go with a P and see what all the fuss is about. I haven't been converted yet, but maybe...

Having gigged my Rickenbacker this past weekend, I believe the day you speak of in the OP may have actually arrived. Never quite felt the way I do about this bass with any other bass that I've owned. And I've owned, and still own, lots.

Joe, I know we don't really know you, but I never pictured you being so totally blown away by a Rickenbacker. That said, my first nice bass was a Rickenbacker, and I would be tickled to no end if I could get it back.

Me neither. I always threw the Ric into the Squire/Lee stereotype, and never knew the awesome "real" bass sounds you could get out of one. Until I got one. And gigged it.
