What would your last ever bass purchase be?

I've always liked the look of the Vigier basses or maybe a Peavey Sarzo if I can convince myself it's radically different from my Cirrus:D

Then again this Tune Bass Maniac extended range fretless has been on the list since 84 so a good chance it would be my choice.

If I have the cash for it, I might consider it. but I'm on a tight budget at the moment. what I was thinking of doing is to purchase an affordable Ibanez soundgear bass to hold me over until I am able to afford a higher leveled Ibanez soundgear bass. plus I've always believed that when it comes to buying basses, it doesn't matter how much it costs...it's the sound quality that matters most. anywho, that's what I plan to do.

this was a fantasy thread with an unlimited budget, so that was why i made the suggestion. the only reason i don't own an SR1800e right now is the mortgage.

btw, i got my SR500 for a whopping $200 used and in great shape at guitar center - they even let me lay it away so i could pay it across two months. don't know if you live by a GC, but if so, you could do that with an SR305, which is actually a darn nice bass and pretty light, too. i've played it a few times, and like the SR300 so much i was about to buy one when i happened across the used SR500 that's now in my livingroom. and AMS lets you do three monthly payments with no credit check (they do a credit check for the 5 and 8 payment plans, but not the 3).

At first thought, easy. Then again, maybe not. First impulse would be to say the Alembic Spoiler that I let get away 15+ years ago. Short scale and koa. Bought it used without the TRC which had the serial number on it. Plus, someone had done a full Jackson Pollack paint job. The entire bass was splatter painted. Fairly good, too. So I stripped it down and tried to get info from Alembic. Unfortunately, there was a big problem. This bass had solid koa wings. Not laminate as should be standard on any Alembic. To this day I don't know if the instrument was a one-off or if it was an incredibly well done copy. Guilted myself into selling it after a year or so. If it ever shows up and is anything like reasonably priced, it will be mine again.

(Edit) - the or maybe not. After now playing my EB-0 might have a hankering for a real EB-0 with full overpowering mudbucker.

Oh so this is a fantasy thread. if money is no option, I would go with sr705. in real life, I would save some cash on an sr505. I've actually played the sr505 many times at a guitar center and a sam ash and I like the sound quality on that bass. not to mention that it sounds totally awesome with some effects. If I happen to find a used one, I totally would buy it. other than the Ibanez soundgear basses, I like the schecter stiletto basses and the yamaha trbx basses(which I currently own).

It will be either:
1) A Custom Shop Gretsch Irish Falcon bass (the only way I can get a lefty) - unless some other lefty long scale hollow body bass magically appears; or
2) A lefty Flying-V of some kind - unless I have one made out of the Kramer lumie neck and Rickenbacker pickups I have stashed away.

Those are all I need to complete my herd, so whichever winds up last, will be my last bass.. unless I drop over dead first...:rolleyes:
