What would your last ever bass purchase be?

Yeah, I've owned a few over the years. If I had to name one style or type of bass I miss the most, it'd be a fretless. I'd probably have scored a cheap SX/Rondo one already but they all have lined fretboards and I prefer them without. That's nitpicking though.

Actually considering removing the frets from my project bass before I put it back together, but that might be beyond my capabilities to do a good job of. The bass isn't worth much to anyone else, but it's almost 40 years old and has a bit of sentimental value to me. Hate to mess up a decent instrument botching a fret pull...

So, are you trying to say I'm going to die tomorrow?
As a textbook sufferer of GAS, I can't imagine my "last" bass. Though I have to admit that now that I have re-acquired a longhorn my GAS has tremendously abated - way more than it usually does right after I get something new.
At this point I'm looking at pedals as they come up cheap and a bigger amp - when and only when - I need it.
But if I could only have one more bass - given that I have a bunch of more than sufficient ones, I'd go for a nice 8 string - I really like the LTD and if I can find someone in my area willing to trade for an ATK I might just "complete" my set.

Ahh, so you know what fretless is all about, nice. Yeah, making it fretless would be a serious project, but luckily we live in the golden age and a tutorial on Youtube is one click away :) I say go for it!

And then of course create a thread and show us your progress :thumbsup:

OR I would have someone or myself (if money is no issue, then I could in theory purchase all the super expensive machinery and do it myself) build a 35-32 multi-scale P bass with an AANJ and all of my previously posted specs, except with @Stealth J/P/J pickup configuration.

Saying you imagine stopping buying gear is a fine answer. Some have already said that.

Tough decision, it would be either a Pedulla Buzz in caramel, or a wenge-faced Wal Mk 1 fretless. It would probably be the Pedulla since, while their tone is distinct, it's maybe not as distinct as the Wal, and therefore is maybe a tad, if not by much, more versatile.
