The Alembic I once owned - but was forced to sell back in the 90s. I had to sacrifice it for a very good reason. But I never quite forgave myself for selling it. And I do miss playing it. That bass was awesome. Absolutely awesome. I'd love to get it back.

Well, I've got my eye on a Jazz right now but if my next bass had to be my last, it would have to be a Fender passive PJ. Swamp ash P body, black finish with a black PG and Fralin PUPs. Maple J neck with RW fingerboard and block inlays.

Slightly off topic, I hope I can play until the end. Visiting the elderly in nursing homes as a deacon for my church is really making me appreciate my independence. Being able to plug a cheap bass into a ratty combo is an incredible privilege!

I started thinking about this because my oldest will be able to start driving soon. That means increased insurance and another car is on the horizon. College is close at hand too.
I'm planning on buying some sort of Jazz during the holiday season, and that might hold me for a while.

You have great taste! Foderas are so expensive, I never even dream about anything but a Standard. Too bad I am not a wheeler dealer like Brad.

Mine would be a very high-end Warmoth build, as I already have a "once in a lifetime" bass, which is a Warwick limited edition. I'm very happy with my 4-figures (new purchase price) basses, and like to play around with modding cheapies, gigging them until they have thrice paid for themselves, and repeating the process.

I think this would be it for me too. Fender spec bodies and necks feel best in my hands and a self-build from Warmoth allows for exotic woods and any pickup arrangement.
