That reminds me of a time I was driving to work on a clear Summer day and the Goodyear Blimp looked low enough to see the gondola windows with my eyes…in other words HUGE! I could hear the props buzzing. I took several photos in a clear blue sky with an iPhone 14 Pro. The Blimp was full in my screen. I got to work and those photos appeared as small oblong dots in the sky. WTH?

When I was younger I was walking through a field at a grammar school near my house. All of a sudden the sky darkened and I heard a very loud roar. I looked up to see this huge thing coming straight down at me. I ran as fast as I could and turned around to see a blimp with Goodyear on the side. It nearly touched down in the field but started to slowly climb back into the sky. I think I was directly under the gondola so the pilot couldn't see me. It scared the bejeezus out of me.

I have no doubt there either was, is or will be other life as we know it in the universe besides on Earth. The universe is simply too big and ancient for it not to have happened before or happen again. However, the conditions for it to develop over a long term are apparently extremely rigorous so it might not happen very often.

UFOs being space alien vehicles...Naaahh.

The sheer number of potential sources of life is so great, that it's a statistical certainty that there is other "intelligent life" that has developed space travel that can occur at a rate possible to make interstellar migration possible. Can we prove it yet? No - we aren't smart enough to. It's an act of incredible arrogance and ignorance to state that you won't believe it until you see it.... But then, we seem to be a species that excels in displaying incredible arrogance and ignorance in most matters, so it's par for the course.
Please explain how interstellar travel is possible without breaking the laws of physics. Are you suggesting that our understanding of those laws is incorrect? If so, please explain how and why.

It is not arrogant to require extraordinary evidence for extraterrestrial claims; rather, it is eminently reasonable, as such claims appear to violate what's possible given what we currently know about the vastness of interstellar space and the immense physical challenges involved in traversing it (time, acceleration, energy, etc...). A reasonable person can certainly entertain the possibility of such notions but cannot believe in the absence of solid supporting evidence.

Yes, Aliens exist. I’m somewhere between: A. Products of the same DNA seeding throughout the universe, they are our grandparents and our siblings, been around longer than us and have learned how to manipulate time and space; B. Aliens exist, maybe they messed with the hominid stock on earth to increase our usefulness to them, there’s certainly a lot of stone/metal images and oral traditions worldwide of sky creatures.
Certainly there are stone artifacts world wide that tell us a higher tech civilization(s) lived here like the pyramids including the most recent one located in khazakistan. Current sightings increased after our world developed nuclear weapons, a threat to all civilizations.
I think our whole developmental timeline is a cultural distortion from those who would benefit from it’s being center.

Look at how much more we know about the formation of the universe, of matter, etc than we did just a few years ago. I hope nobody is foolish enough to think that we've got it all figured out.....

I accept this. And I accept that our understanding of physical science is dynamic. Not to say what we know is right or wrong, just that what we know evolves. Consider that 2,500(-ish) years ago Thales was observing light from galaxies that left their source billions of years before. Consider there are estimates of 2 trillion galaxies and some are many times older than ours.

Not saying there are green hotties in flying saucers. But our current understanding of physics struggles to define the mathematical parameters that earth could be the only planet with life among likely hundreds of trillions of planets and moons.

Physical laws are hard science as we understand. I’m an engineer and can accept physics and constraints.

Yet quantum mechanics as a theory celebrates 100 years in 2025.

And the simplistic reason we as a society craft and launch observatories into the sky is that we are seeking to expand our comprehension.

Maybe we find the space hotties or maybe we find a microbe or maybe we don’t. But as long as there is a possibility there is a worthy exploration.

Much of the debate revolves around C, light speed. I work in lighting at a high level and I’ll tell you there are at least 10 scientifically recognized definitions of light and they differ greatly. Maybe it’s actually impossible to exceed that constraint of C but maybe it’s just something we have yet to learn. Like gravity or virology or neuroscience or wave mechanics or any of the countless sciences that “didn’t exist” to humanity just a handful of centuries ago.

It's neither arrogant nor foolish to demand evidence before we accept an idea, no matter how much sense it may make. Observable, measurable data is the meat and potatoes of real science. The theorists can propose anything they like, but it doesn't become real until the experiments and observations prove it. It's why we spend billions on particle accelerators and other big science.
 
This alien civilization isn't relying on us listening to radio transmissions. They are taking a more direct approach...

There may a law physics that we just have no understanding of at this time. It would be like if you went back 3000 years ago and tried to explain electricity or nuclear energy to people back then. To think we understand all the physics in the universe would be quite arrogant at this time. Heck, just less than just 200 years ago, a blink of the eye in time, we were still depending on animal labor for transportation.

Working scientist by profession - Probability is not helpful in deciding if there is life out there. We have an N=1 experience with life. We have no idea how rare that is and how rare the conditions are that could produce any life, let alone intelligent life above our level. It's all pure speculation until we at least get an N of two.
 
Seems to be a live stream of the UAP House Hearing.

The aptly named Mrs Luna is questioning witnesses now :


The takeaway from this might be that the house panel were briefed beforehand in a SCIF, and nobody during the hearing seemed to doubt the veracity of the testimony, or the existence of non-human beings. The questions were more about logistics than existence.
There was also an interesting mention of "making the 3D into 2D" as a means of interstellar travel.

Steven Greer (the king of self promotion) seems to think that 70% of all UFOs/UAPs are 'us.'

My background is philosophy, though I studied physics for a couple years as an undergrad. From what I gather, while contemporary physics still faces some unknowns, the physics of space travel is well understood, at least if we're not talking about something like interdimensional travel, which is extremely speculative.

Comparisons to the ignorance of the ancients don't give sufficient credit to the depth and reliability of our modern scientific understanding. The scientific method brought about an exponential expansion unparalleled in history... though if course the search for knowledge will never be complete.

Quantum theory is less than a century old from marginalized science adjacent speculation to global acceptance and then some. We don’t know what we don’t know.
