What year did you get your first 5 string bass ?

1991. I stopped playing while I was in college and when I resumed, I went straight for a fiver. I've had one (or another) ever since.
1998. Kubicki Key Factor 5. It was between the Kubicki,a Cirrus 5 and a G&L 2500.I got the Kibicki for $800,the other two were over $1000 at the time.It was a great bass but I ended up having neck problems with it.

It was a Peavey...Dyna-bass if I remember correctly. Didn't own it too long, but I tried and Aria Pro II out in 1993...this bass sucked.

2007. I owned a 6 string in 2006, though. '08 oddly enough seems to have brought me back into 4 string land.
I got my first 5 string (and 6 string) this year.
December 2007, I owned 3 four string basses.
I now own 2 5ers, a 6er and no 4 string basses.
It was that quick.

I got my first 5 string in 2004 I believe it was. An Ibanez SR505 and I still am playing it as my main bass right now. It is great sounding and plays great. I just wish it had a forearm contour and I do need to take it into a professional to get the trussrod adjusted.

I went straight from 4 to 6 string in 1995. I didn't get comfortable with a 5 until I got my Fretless Carvin LB75F, followed by my 2005 Warwick Buzzard 5 string Bolt Neck, and my 2006 Gibson Thunderbird Studio 5 String. I still prefer my 6 strings but am very comfortable with my 5 strings now...
1997. A Yamaha BBG5A. this picture is me playing it on a gig 1 week after I bought it. It was kind of nerve racking playing it so soon after I got it, but it went pretty well. Dig the ponytail!
I haven't played one much in the last 3 years because I'm in a classic rock band and just don't need it. And I like the lighter weight of a 4 string. But I still have 2 of them for those times I need one.

1997 When my band gave me one to use. The band director insisted I needed a five string bass! It was a Washburn 5...not the greatest bass, but a great tool nonetheless.

I guess it was around 1999, where I got a Fender Jazz Deluxe 5. It looked great, didn't play well and had all sorts of strange problems. What we in Denmark call a "Monday model", for sure...! Traded it for a new Warwick Fortress Flashback 5, which was wonderful but weighed a ton - let it go as a partial trade when I bought a new Fender Jazz Deluxe QMT 5, which I sold a bit later because I bought a Skjold Exotic Custom Deluxe.
Then I got an insane offer for the Skjold and bought an MTD535 just for the earnings
A little while later I sold the MTD535 and now I'm waiting for my custom Ritter Roya 5... End station, for sure!

2007. But, I went from 4 to 6 strings in '92, played 6ers only 'til last year. Now, I'm going back to 4 strings, w/ a 5er used occasionally. My band doesn't need my Les Claypool-like stuff. Now, I keep it simple.
