I would love to see a civil rights era movie on the scale of Mississippi Burning which I think lacked a self awareness. Not on just the fictional characters, but possibly even some of the actual players from the north.
Got back into Tokyo Vice, it's great. I'll watch pretty much anything Ken Watanabe is in. The book, btw, was excellent.

...unfortunately I would not expect to find anything self aware from Hollywood.
