Subsequent episodes were not as good. It was better when it aired on regular network TV and had to show some restraint. The exclusively Peacock episodes were raunchier than necessary, and about as subtle as a sledgehammer when trying to be sentimental. The show tried to have its cake and eat it too by being very crass and cynical while also trying to make us sympathetic to the characters. It didn't work for me.Steph Curry's "Mr. Throwback"
I was expecting nothing from this show, but it happened to be on NBC, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I liked it a lot, and Steph is a funny dude! I have Peacock, so I'll be streaming this series.
It definitely felt like a money grab. From watching the trailers, I (and our son agrees) have no interest in seeing it. The first one was good. Leave it alone. And Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn? Nope. She doesn't get the aesthetic or attitude of that character. Heck, she's probably never read any of the comics.Joker 2 is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. It's the most unnecessary sequel that's ever been made and the most obvious vanity project I've ever seen. It's also basically a musical. All the songs, I believe, are old hits from the 50s and 60s. Cole Porter type stuff, I think. The songs aren't really related to the story being told, and they're being sung by Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix half heartedly. They're singing these songs with minimal effort and it's clearly intentional, for some reason. Maybe because Phoenix can't really sing? But he does. He sings a lot. And dances, with one move. This kinda shuffle thing with a little arm flourish. It's a bad movie. It's a really bad movie. It's not interesting.
From what I read, the first one was meant to be a one and done,. Joaquin wanted this movie made. No one else did. It was so, so bad. The beginning was good. Seeing the character again. Then it turns into a courtroom drama/musical. This movie is ****. Now they're probably gonna do another one and a Lady Gaga standalone. It definitely felt like a money grab. That was my thought when I first heard about it. Why are they making this? If it's a one-and-done, it could be like "Taxi Driver." But since the Joker is a well-known character, I guess they couldn't just leave it alone...well, that and the money, of course. I only see Joker as a standalone character in a backstory movie like the first "Joker," which explains how he became the kind of person he is.Joker 2 is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. Beneath their money-grubbing corporate facade beats a heart of gold...I just know it!Why else though do these big studios make movies? Because they love us and want us to have nice things to watch?

Besides the prosecutor in his trial being Harvey Dent and Lady Gaga being named Harley Quinn, it had nothing to do with Batman. The first one was unnecessarily in the Batman universe. That was a movie about a guy with serious psychological problems and that’s it. Him being Arthur Dent and Thomas Wayne being in the movie were the only ties to the Batman universe and what was the point? What did that add? It could’ve been a modern day Taxi Driver. The Batman connection cheapened that movie. And sequel was just pathetic. Vane and pretentious crap. At the end of the first one, they show guys in clown masks and that sort of maybe hints at him being coming some kind of crime boss, but they go nowhere with that, not that it would have helped. Having a story would’ve taken camera time away from Joaquin Phoenix’s face as he smokes cigarettes. This one probably won’t make enough money to justify sequels but who knows. That was my thought when I first heard about it. Why are they making this? I wouldn't want you to post any spoilers, but if you can answer this...does it seem like they're setting this version of Joker up to be a crime boss or an evil villain who's a major threat to millions so he can be in a future "Batman" movie? I can't think of any other reason to make "Joker 2" - aside from the money, of course.
