What's on for your "Clean" sound

I have a pedal board, but I'm not a pedal dancer. My sound is clean with a bit of growl. I go: VT Bass > Boss CEB3 > BBE Sonic Stomp. All three always on. I have a Boss GEB7 that I use strictly for boost. The EQ on my GK is pretty much flat, with very slight adjustments made for the room. I shoot for the Eddie Jackson tone from Empire, this with my J Bass gets me just about there.

Had the pleasure of having beers with him once after a show in Denver, we have a mutual friend. Very cool guy, totally down to earth. Much respect for him. He doesn't even use an amp. Just a DI with in-ear monitors. Both of their guitar players only use one 2x12 wedge in front of them next to their vocal monitors. Their stage volume is suprisingly low. At least that's what they used when they were out with Alice Cooper & Heaven and Hell. Now, Heaven and Hell's stage volume, that's another story all together. I stood six feet from Geezer behind the curtain when they started Mob Rules. When he hit the first bass note the concrete stage floor shook. I've never been in an actual earthquake, but I'd imagine they feel something like that. Scared the *#@% out of me!

Sometimes, when the situation calls for it, I set my Ibanez PD-7 to clean and use it as either a boost or a bass boost.

I have the FET channel on the GBE600 set perfectly clean, and the tube side fully overdriven. I switch between these on different songs, or on occasion, during a song. I'm getting a momentary switch installed on the 2 button footswitch I have so I can play in the clean channel, and then hold down the switch for distorted runs. Should be pretty cool!

I have nothing on when I am running clean, if I am playing something that needs a very clean sound. I do, however, run a Marshall Guvnor a lot for a slightly gritty sound that most people would deem my 'clean' sound.

For the music I play (even though I wish it wasn't so) I often need a very clean clean. So, sadly, my clean is as clear as an azure blue sky - crystal clear.

up until a week or so ago my clean sound was channel 1 of my PBDDI but now it is my Mojo Hand Cream Pie. it does sound great when combined with other gain pedals

Compressor is always on, a Boss CS-3. 90% of the time I have an older no Mosfet Fulltone Bassdrive giving me crunch. Clips in my sig.


I've been wanting to run an EQ after the Fulltone, to bosot some low mids.

So the DF-2 and Black Finger are always left on

The gain and delay pedals are the fun ones though...and with how bongripper has been writing material lately the clean tone is on less often than the distorted tone...so probably in another album or so I can just leave it on always.

My GK is set almost flat.

Same here with my Hartke set flat. The SansAmp drive is at 9:00 and the blend is at 12:00 with the presence set at around 10:00 (but I'm still experimenting). Most times I use nothing but a bit of compression.

i was experimenting earlier with my pd7. found that on the overdrive setting on attack level 1 with no drive, i get kind of a gritty tubelike sound. it doesnt take a moron to realize theres a difference, but its close enough to please me for now. there will eventually be a tech 21 vt bass and an aphex punch factory

I have a PD7, though I haven't been using. I like the way it sounds but haven't found a use yet for it in my band (I've got a Big Muff and a Modded Boss DS-1 as well as the Fulltone). It also has the problem of not always turning on when you step on it. All the PD7's have this problem for whatever reason, but not the other Tonelok pedals. I have to remember to step on it extra hard.

I also kinda don't have space on my current board, so when I build a new one it'll be put on and probably put to use. Already sold it once, don't want to again cause I know I'll regret it.

Me too. Aphex Bass Xciter too - for gigs, at least.

Yea, the CS3 is kinda noisy, but it gets the job done. If I were to upgrade I'd get something rack mounted.

Catalinbread Serrano Picoso. Lately I've been using my G3 almost exclusively and the output of the pickups is way lower than my other basses so I use the SP to boost it up to the proper level for all my other effects.

I have a Behringer Tube Drive (I think...the light purple one) on 99% of the time. Of all the od pedals I've tried, that's the one that have given me the the best slight-overdrive tone. Even though it only costs about as much as a sixer of good beer.

The crap thing about it is that it colours the sound ALOT, so I couldn't use it as an occasional dist pedal, since the sound with it on/off is like night and day. But if I leave it on, dial in a hint of od, and just dial back all the low end it sucks out on the amp, I'm in rock'n'roll heaven

I've also recently acquired a TC Electronic Triple-C (three band rack compressor) that I'm toying with. It's always fun to add more blinking stuff to my rack
