Nearly roughed out. What a difference a day makes. Lunch time!
Is the chair positioned to catch the shavings so you don't have to sweep the floor? 
Nah it was for me to sit on but it was more comfortable standing and I just was to involved to move it. Don't worry there is more then enough on the floor.Is the chair positioned to catch the shavings so you don't have to sweep the floor?
So the lower bout is attached and now getting the upper ready for gluing. Here's a preliminary shot. I think when it's ready I'm going to bi-amp it through my two Vox amps. One V125 Bass and the other a V125 Lead.

I have to ask: Can you actually fret notes in the upper part of the third octave? That looks really tight. Cool design, though!
I'm going to find out. It's not mine and the owner seems to believe it's what he needs. It's quite possible it is more for the visual then anything else. I was checking it out and it seems to catch the flesh of your finger when pressing up there so maybe it will work?

The frets are black onyx (stone) and were installed by Crystal Frets in Colorado.
It's now in one piece. Blended in the back of the neck. Jack will be mounted in a strat type plate under the upper half. I have to add bevels to the edges and then lots of sanding.
What's on (leaning up in front of) my workbench today? Some nice kiln dried flat sawn hard maple.
A 6.5 inch by 8.5 foot piece of 4/4
A 8 inch by 10.75 foot piece of 8/4 (cut in half)
And a nice piece of 4/4 figured cherry.
The cherry is for a project for the house. Got enough 4/4 for two neck blanks, and the 8/4 will eventually make some body blanks.
It's nice living fifteen minutes from a sawmill.
All set for the WBO!

Oh right, I guess I should have detailed that. Before the side was attached I clamped a block cut to the curve that gave me a flat surface to start drilling. Once I was into the wood I removed the block and continued to the depth needed. Squared off the corners with a knife and chisel to fit the jack plate. Also cross drilled from the side so when I route for the bridge and pickup the channel will open up.
It's the owners design. My job is to make it work. I like a challenge!I like how it looks both really simple and amazingly complex. Very nice.
