I've had an old, snapped hatchet kicking around the workshop for yonks. Today was the day to fix it!
I used an offcut of (I think) Beech to make the handle, and cleaned up the blade on the belt sander & the grinder. Used a chunk of the old handle to make the wedge for the new one; felt right!

And when the blade needs to be replaced, will it still be the same hatchet that's been kicking around the workshop?
Yep. After you've used your first bandsaw for a while, you realize that you really could use one or two more of them. I seem to have leveled off at seven. I feel like I have enough. For now.
So Nexy, are you going to build a Hello Kitty Devil Bass? I know you've been thinking about it.

But it’s a real old original axe.
This little guy will get a cosmetic facelift during refurb . The paint is just about toast.
Made just post WWII it's got a very art-deco flair. The cast aluminum 2 piece shell is sleek. 2 tone mint and seafoam green with the stripe/edging silver ?
Perhaps gold and silver hammer tone?
Pastel pink, and Salmon?

I actually was thinking about it, or a Hello Kitty Rickenbacker.
I'm picturing it in hot pink, fading to red on the tips of the horns. And mess with the logo to make the eyes look mischievous. The other side of Kitty.

This one is for my pickup mule build, so I figured why not try a new profile and headstock. I started with just the two primary facets and blended the rest. Somewhat surprisingly, it turned out great. The profile is significantly asymmetric, though it's tough to tell in the photo. It feels nice to hold in my hand but I will need to finish it and attach it to a body to see if it is also nice to play.

Nice! Lovely walnut. Carving your first neck is a bit of a “rite of passage”, but when it’s done you think to yourself, “well, that wasn’t so hard, why did I wait so long?”!

I need to hurry up and build a bass from scratch, including the neck so I can be officially accepted as a builder.

Ummmm... it's not "on" my workbench... but am building a new workbench!
This is a very big bench to hold my CNC project... it needs to be mobile, so some funky wheel setup was used. The design came from the Highline Guitar guy on YouTube... this thing is super solid!!
Lowered to the floor, the 4x4 touches the concrete.
Activated, the 4x4 is off the concrete!
Still need to get the top (3/4" sanded plywood) sometime this week...

Nice! Be prepared for sticker shock on the plywood though, lumber is brutal right now. $70 for a 4x8x3/4” sheet on Cape Cod! I have some home improvement projects on hold, hoping for better lumber prices, which may be naive on my part.
