I have a Fender FSR Jazz that I love. It's my only bass. Lately I've been dying for an Ibanez SR500 brown burst or a SR700. I look up these basses on line and spend minutes just staring at them. I really don't need a second bass. I'm not a professional bass player, I'm not in a band. Think I need professional help. :help:

I've got a 7 guitar stand, and 8 basses. I've got my eye on a vintage Beatle bass, although I've never wanted one before. So I have a solution for both of us. I'll keep buying basses if I can store them at you house. What say you???? :)

BTW, I'm retired from playing professionally

Hello my name is Dr. Steve.
What you are suffering from is Ialwayswantmoregearitis commonly known as GAS.
Do not fight it, do not search for a cure because there is none.
Once it spreads it is insatiable.
Welcome to being a musician.
We here at talkbass are fellow sufferers.
You either embrace it or fight the losing fight.
The disease has been known to lay dormat for periods of time, but in the end once you have it you will always have it.
Regards,
Dr. Steve

not uncommon ... IF can you afford the bass without financially hardshipping yourself or your loved ones, by all means go for it ... for my situation, I have found the key is to buy used, and buy smart ...

... unfortunately, this feeling will hit you again, and usually when you are least expecting it ... when buying used, you have the peace of knowing that your last purchase can be 'relocated' to accomodate the new object of your desire, without much of a financial blow ...

... it is kind of a revolving door once you get started .. but if you do it right, it doesn't need to cost all that much ... the only ones that usually end up making a bundle $$ are the FedEx's, UPS's and USPS ... JMHO

I keep buying guitars n basses if I find them ultra cheap, that may need some work. Dont need new guiitars, because they are new, and Im more a DIY guy, that likes to setup and repair gear. Sometimes only because I feel that if I wont buy the cheap stuff itd be destroyed and die in slow hard painful way.

I started with one bass as everyone here. Blue Fernandes Gravity, when something has happened. I felt I need an acoustic bass. And it all started ...

Buying later was an addition, just to get my hands on another gear. Then I thought - why not to make a custom one ? Everytime was the same - I may need it when I start to play in a band

Now I own about 21 musical instruments, and planning to have more. There is nothing wrong with having one more bass, especially if its different than previous one
