What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

At a philosophical level, I think naming things in an inherent desire to classify and differentiate. Enough so that Adam named all the animals before even figuring out that something was missing.

i've never named any of my basses or guitars. it's not like they can come if i call them...

I had a dash mounted GPS that had the sexiest female voice, a breathy English sweetie. I called the GPS Estelle. A sad day when she died on me

my son named his phone GPS voice "that google maps b***h. i guess he didn't find her to be a sweetie

Yes, all three of my basses have names.

The bass on the left is called "the brown bass." The one on the right is "the red bass." The bass in the middle (my main player) is called "the green bass."

Most of them I just call by their brand or model name, if it’s the only one of it’s kind, eg “the Fender” or “the SG”. Or finish + brand name if there are multiples, eg “the black Charvel”

But two ended up with actual names somehow:
1) “Green”
2) “The Sh*t Bass”

Not generally, although I admit having one bass that I gave a name that I can't post on here. I can tell you that it sounds and spells a lot like "Ol' Shippy".

Not sure why naming a bass triggers so many people. There is a long tradition of naming boats and airplanes. When I was growing up it was not unusual for the farmers to name their tractors, pickup trucks and guns.

My old Jazz bass is named “Betsy”.
And for the life of me I couldn’t tell you why. LoL

I have nicknames for others usually their color. Guess I’m weird.

Big Red for my Dingwall Z2 - cause it’s red-ish
Lil Red for my Suhr Jazz
Black Dingy for my NG3
That Blue Thing for my Alien Audio 5
