What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

Some do, some don't. Meet my latest creation, The Plutergegant Chemungenunny:

… I have names for all my basses. I like my basses more than most people and they have names.
I do too. Some are named after people:smug: Real and imagined:)

People use their toilets more than they use their basses...many love them, too, to the extent of going out of their way to not use any others.
Anyone out there name their toilets?
The Crapper comes immediately to mind, named after Thomas Crapper. Cool dude.

The tradition in my family dictates that it be known as The Dumpty. Old Tom, my grandfather and unintentional namesake, named it that, before I came along. I know any number of other names for those Thunder Boxes but I still prefer The Dumpty, for obvious reasons:)

Absolutely, my bass is named. Her name is Mio. My Strat has a couple names, Ghibli and Ugly thing. I also give names to my favorite synth presets.

I just bought a new amp, an Ampeg RB110. I already named him Gopher.

If paintings can be named why can’t other items that are created be named?
I dearly love creativity, in everything. In people, it's a defining feature, sets them apart. A long time ago, before I came here, on a whim, there was a naming frenzy. Probably, because I saw others doing it and wanted to join in the fun. It was fun and has become a habit.

I wrote all those names down, each with a hat tip to their particular circumstance — forgetting those names isn't on the cards. For some however, I need to refer to the cards, to refresh my memory. So important, this subject, I must say:)

I even named the latest car. It's a stroppy old camel called Christine*:) I truly love truly creative people, and camelish cars, and golf clubs, and the rest. I love them a darn sight more than I love the banal, bitchy, boorish, button-pushing bullies of the interset. Dull, forgettable creatures, they are.

Without hesitation, I'll give you the drum. For me, the rich, rarefied spirit of creativity makes the world go 'round, …. Which reminds me, I have a drum or three and a swag of cymbals and chimes, and the like, to christen. Let the games begin.

I mean Jaco had "The Bass of Doom". That's a name- or at least a title, right? Maybe those who are opposed to giving names to your basses might consider giving them a title instead? I can see myself doing that. "Moneypit" comes to mind.
Moneypenny flows from that. The name's Bondsman. Bail Bondsman.

There's one P90-equipped, mildly modded Gold Top guitar here, goes by the name of Bomb, who likes to pretend he's a bass, makes beautiful music, deep and meaningful, couldn't care less about stereotypes, or reality. I don't see a problem. It's a guitar.

There are other creatures, but that's another story.

*Names have been changed to project the innocent.
