I don't have a nickname for my basses but I have a nickname for people who name their basses.

I'm with you on this. Only things worse, to me, are naming cars and those lame ass truck nuts.

I have never named my basses or any other inanimate object. I really don't understand why people do it. I call my basses according to the model. My jazz bass is my jazz, my precision is my precision and so on.

Ole and Sven Jokes

Ole and Sven are the best of friends, and they have these 2 girls on the string, Lena and Olga who live together in an apartment. One evening Ole and Sven are sitting in the bar getting drunk, Ole turns to Sven and asks, "Ven do you suppose dose girls are gonna make out vit us?" Sven says, "Donno, but I'm drunk enuf, lets go ask em!". So off they go to the apartment where Ole knocks on the door, Lena answers and says "Vell Ole and Sven, come on in!" Ole no more than gets in the door when he says "Ve yust come to find out ven you girls are gonna make out vit us"....Lena is upset by this and throws them both out slamming the door on them. Ole is persistant, knocks on the door again. Lena isn't stupid, knows it's Ole and says: "Ole if you are gonna be so forward you'll have to talk through the keyhole". So Ole bends to the keyhole and asks "Ven you girls gonna make out vit us?" Lena is really upset now she drops her pants backs up to the keyhole and breaks wind...Ole is backing up and shaking his head, Sven says: "Vell Ole vat did she say?" Ole says: "Vell, I tink she said TOOOSDAY...but her breath is bad and I'm not askin again."

The Aerodyne is my old faithful, affectionately named "The Duchess". She slays everything I need her to, and a bit more I've had this bass for 4 years, and it was my first and only bass for the longest time (until two days ago). I went from learning how to play Seven nation army to touring with my band, playing originals. I replaced the pickups with Quarter Pounds, and the bridge with the Fender High Mass one.

The 5 string is my 2 day old Deluxe Jazz, Still not sure what to name it. I saw it at a music shop near my house and for $400 it was a steal. Im planning on slapping some d'addario rounds on it. Its a lot heavier of a bass than the Aerodyne, but it sounds gorgeous. I'm planning on using it as my main for my next show (This upcoming Friday) and seeing how it performs. If you have any name suggestions feel free to share

My 15 year old at the time named my Andreas Bullshark Bruce.....I just call it my Andreas but the name was pretty cool.

My USA Geddy Lee is the Geddy, my Steve Harris hybrid/build is the Harris. After that I go with brand name or model name. When selling a bass I usually refer to it as a her. " Give her a good home please!".

At the end of the first rehearsal I used my Status Empathy our drummer turned to me and asked if I name my basses. I said not usually although I had an 85 Jazz Bass Special which I modded out that played and sounded amazing. I called that one Baby until the day it was stolen. He says well I have a name for that bass. I asked what is it. He said that bass is Fxxk Yeah. So now it is the primary bass I use with those guys and everytime I pull it out the drummer yells Fxxk Yeah! It is quite rude and makes no sense other than it sits in the mix superbly and the drummer says it is the first bass he has heard and felt every note and harmonic I play last forever. It does have amazing sustain and a wonderful midrange that doesn't honk unless one dials that in with the marvelous on-board eq.

I used to have one long long ago I called "Mary Lou" ....... perfect, sweet, but would break your heart if you played the blues. Enuf said. Haven't named any instrument since then. Hummmmmm ...... never thought about that until now. Like BB said, there weren't any others that matched up to Lucille.
