Whats your dream bass?

I have several MIA Fenders as well as Alembics and Spectors so I am very happy with what I have. I would like to get back my 78 Jazz in Sienna Sunburst with maple fretboard and white block inlays. It was stolen in 1984 along with a 72 SVT head and cab. I haven't seen one like it since then. It was one of the best sounding and playing basses I've ever owned.

I wouldn't say no to a Rickenbacker drool:bassist:

but my dream bass would have to be a completely custom build:
1. Maple neck with black block inlays and vintage style headstock and skunk-stripe
2. Lightweight
3. 'modern jazzzzz' style body
4. 2 P PUs in Jazzzzz postion
5. High mass bridge
6. Sire active EQ
7. Probably Lake Placid Blue finish with a white PG and aluminum control strip

Rics? Zons? I am done dreaming. Should be as I am in my late 40's right now.

I already have it. And another one. And another one. Not having to dream about them means I sleep better. The odd thing is that I have a bunch of bass guitars, but lately I have been playing the upright most of the time. I have one of those, and don't have any interest in another one. At this point, I don't really have much interest in buying another bass guitar, either. Does this attitude get me banned from TB? Probably!

You're not alone brother! althou if presented with the opportunity and funds like I mentioned earlier!
Wouldn't mind a 1960 all original stacked knob fender jazz Bass ! it wouldn't hurt my dreams in no way shape or form!

Dream bass huh?

Fodera Emperor II Fretless 6-string. Not sure of exact specs but I'm sure I'll have that sussed out by the time I save up to buy one!

Gibson EB-0 painted the same as Eric Clapton's "The Fool" SG.

Ibanez Thundercat Signature.

try to get an "Atlansia type" (each string goes seperate) they got the looks you will need for it

great project: keep us watching

may the bass be with you

Yes, I've seen those types of bridges on many basses. I have the perfect bass (or will have it in about a month or so). It'll just need the extra tuners, a nut and of course the bridge. What I'm hoping is a company can modify the existing bridge. If not, ABM will custome make one (costly). Trying to get Hipshot to quote me.

My dream bass is a shortscale that takes long scale strings. So that would be a custom build or a Frankenshort of my own creation.

I've seen it done before. There was even a thread about those here a couple years back with pics. It works.

I have a specific adjustment design in mind so that it could take a lot of brands of strings ( different brands have different winding lengths).
