What kind of bass would you love to have one day?
I would love a Rickenbacker, since my inspiration Lemmy played one and so has some of my other favorite bassists

I already have it. And another one. And another one. Not having to dream about them means I sleep better. The odd thing is that I have a bunch of bass guitars, but lately I have been playing the upright most of the time. I have one of those, and don't have any interest in another one. At this point, I don't really have much interest in buying another bass guitar, either. Does this attitude get me banned from TB? Probably!

I would love to own two basses:

A fender P bass that speaks to me. I love the sound of other people playing P basses, and can't get that sound on my jazz bass, but every time I buy a p bass its not "the one". I want one for flatwound playing.

I would also love to own a old (20's/30's) Juzik double bass.

A fretted Bruce Johnson Scroll Bass is high on my list of dream basses too.

Some others are Serek Midwestern, and Dingwall D-bass, or a Dingwall Super P. And I wouldn't mind having a fretted Rob Allen Mouse.

That's the one! But, I'd want mine with frets and maybe 5 strings (but I'd take 6 strings and fretless, too!).

1) Sir Paul McCartney's actual 1963 Hofner 500/1 along w/ his Ric 4001 and his '66 Jazz bass.

2) As previously mentioned, James Jamerson's actual Precision bass that he played on more #1 hits than any other human being.

Anyone want to loan me a few billion dollars?

By many accounts that bass is (or was) almost unplayable. Ridiculously high action, etc. Could possibly be fixed, but just the history alone or some residual Jamerson magic might rub off on you. Good choice.

Aside from saying some idols' bass, I'd go with an 1983 Fender PJ w/ rosewood board and as much black accessories they could muster at the factory.

That sounds exactly like a bass I own... not a 1983 but an 85'. The blackest Fender Bass I've ever seen, or owned for that matter.

They're great basses, no matter what color. I didn't even know this bass existed until I saw it on my local CL classified and scored it really cheap. The neck was kinda bowed when it got into my hands, but I was able to get it straightened back out and now it plays like a dream! They sound great too, but the J pickup is definitely weaker in comparison to the P Pickup.
