Wow! I'm just speechless. The delay on the drums in the beginning, the guitar tone, that first lead note, the whole atmosphere of the song! It would be hard to convince me that John didn't at least have "Maggot Brain"... well, on the brain when he recorded "Before the Beginning"

First off, I have a wall of Jazz cds next to me...so I will stick to Rock/Funk/Pop instrumentals...

Two of my favorites are " Pick Up The Pieces " by AWB, simple yet very effective bass riff for that tune, and " Hip Hug Her " by Booker T and the MG's, well, just because I loved everything Duck Dunn ever did, RIP.
