What's your favorite preamp that's also a DI?

I currently use a Presonus Tube Pre to push a PA amp. I've been wanting to try a few other pre's, so I'm wondering what everyone is digging and why? All I need is a strong output and the ability to use it as a DI while also driving a PA amp at the same time. If it played nice with effects (boost/drive pedals and fuzz esp) that's a big plus.

Not exactly what you're probably looking for, but the Avalon U5 is my favorite Pre/DI. I'm contemplating getting another one now that it's been out of my system for the past year. Never shoulda sold it! Thanks, TB.

Not sure what style you play but the sansamp VT is awesome at the whole "old school" feel if that's what you're into.

The only thing I've used it the Rusty Box. I have a VT Bass and understand the Deluxe is the same sound with more options, so I'd still go with the Rusty. Big fan of that box...

Yeah, I was kind of hoping for a "pros and cons" thing more than a list of what everyone is using, but that doesn't seem to have worked out...

Maybe you can help us by narrowing down your area of interest. For example, if your max budget was under $300, that would rule out some of the boutiquey options. Or maybe you have champagne taste and don't care to hear about the more pedestrian pedals. Or if you desire clean, articulate, modern tone, that could rule out some of the more tubey/dirt oriented preamps--or vice versa, desiring SVT emulation would rule out the super clean boxes.
