What's your MÜB story?

Have the super brights steels on now... wating for it to break in... not sounding very good on Soul Anchor at the moment it sounds bright but I feel it muddied the natural mids of my bass..

Am going to try MTD strings next..

What Maurizio put on was DR Low Riders... quite good but a bit stiff for me..

And I'll need a tapered 'B' hehe

super bright nickels then :D
i play the steels and i like them a lot but they do take out the mids a bit i guess, "slap strings" ;) works well if your bass already throws out a loads mids lol
but am waiting to try super bright nickels myself

but there are some very cool strings out there now, pure blues by DR apparently have a "nickel feel and steel tone"!

I suspect nickels won't do well with my bass... as it is, my bass is already mids heavy, warm n growl all thrown in... haha... thanks to Maurizio for recommending the wood combo... but will keep an open mind with the nickels

I have high hopes for the mtd strings... if it doesn't work out, I'll go back to low riders with tapered B... yes did I mention tapered B... hahaha...

Your bass is looking good and better all the time ☺ gonna be another killer bass...

I've heard of them and read some reviews. They don't have dealer in Singapore. Don't really want to ship from overseas... hahaha... their concept sounds like thomastik infeld but with more options.

Tapered B strings are not uncommon. I have used them - DR mostly. I can't say I ever found them to be that much different from the normal ones tone wise. On some bridges with very narrow saddle groove like my old Tobias they work well though. With tapered strings you'll have to dramatically change both saddle position to intonate and string heigh. Usually the B string saddle will have to move closer to the pup as if the string were a .40, like a G. I should still have a few tapered B strings by DR if anyone is interested.

cheers! ;)

ok all this string talk and i tried some lo riders. my love for super brights grows deeper, am hoping i can send you these and just have them installed and the bass set up for it from get go as they are wayy lower in tension and make the neck go back as compared to lo riders if left unadjusted of course

Sure. I'll do the set up on those strings if you like. With a stiff neck usually one can choose strings simply based on feel and tone. Which of course might still be those super brights ;)

And that's the day when you'll be a real bass player.... LOL.....sorry..... hahahahah Thank you so much my friend.

No apologies required my friend. You are a skilled craftsman with an impeccable design sense, and your threads alone are inspirational. A bass of yours would likely be a perfect culmination to all the work it would require of me to feel good enough to deserve one.

Besides, I did kinda give you an opening there... ;)

Someday, when I'm a real bass player, I definitely want to try an Uber.
@wraub Porthos inspires me to be a better musician. If you think my video is bad, you should have seen me during my first visit to Maurizio :) You deserve the instrument that you want, I say go for it. I don't get any commission or discounts for promoting Maurizio's work. It's just such a positive experience that I want to share it to everyone!

Hey hey! Metallutca has joined! welcome and thank you! (and you Bits!)
@metallutca Hey Lutfi, I love the new video, it seems your cinematography skills have improved as well :) I'm so excited to see your video for Magma!
@miziomix My pleasure, Maurizio -- actually I'm buttering you up as I just received the 4PDT switches and I think I will need your help to to install the fabled Nordstrand dual coils :)
