Whats your most gigged; Punch, Power, Portability combination!

My favourite cab/amp combination only gets the big outdoor work, my most portable rig the practice and low volume gigs that are also not that regular. What's your turn to for the best Punch Power and Portability combination? I'm not talking huge and not talking about that sexy little green Elfin and her double 8 inches of vibrating pleasure that were all raving about.... For the 3 P's a single faital pro neo 15 equipt cab and basslite equipt 210 + horn cab is (for me) getting by far the most air time of late. Usable with all my amps and not to much of a back breaker... What's your most gigged PPP combination? Single cabs also fine of course :) I could post a picture but everyone knows what an old 210 115 looks like ) nothing flash. Replies with photos are encouraged to expand my own horizons....

Rehearsal and small gigs, a Phil Jones Double Four with battery and any of my 21-24 inch scale bass ukes/mini basses. Bigger gigs, a Carvin MB15 Combo, and for larger and outdoor gigs, I add a Carvin 115MBE extension cab, with a small but powerful lithium battery and inverter I put together. I also recently used my Sony DWZ B30GB wireless with DI out to a PA system.

My main gigging amp is GK MB212-ii combo, and it can handle almost everything and is usually overkill. Always have PA support and we use IEM, so I definitely don't need the 500w, but it's nice to have.

Occasionally I'll use the MB800 with a 4ohm CX410 to get th full 800w. Usually for bigger outdoor gigs.

Quilter Bass Block into an 8 ohm Avatar SB126 with the Kappalite 3012lf and 1.6kHz crossover options. It handles everything I throw at it, including downtuned-to-A five string fretless, and the dispersion is fantastic. It's the best I've ever heard myself on stage, and with the 450 watts into the super-12, it gets very loud when needed. I had originally planned on getting another one for a stack, but I just haven't played a gig yet where I needed anything more than one. The cab only weighs 39 pounds, and with my folding cart I have easy one-trip loadin/out.

Here it is in the practice room next to my old Carvin AG100D combo and Ibanez Portamento.

My most-gigged power/punch/portability combination is an Acoustic Image Focus 1 Series II head into a single Eden D-115 cabinet. Coming in at a very close second would be that same AI head into a pair of Flite Sound cabinets (a 1x12" and a 1x15"). More power than the first option due to the 4 ohm load, arguably just as portable if not more so (even though it's two cabs versus one the Flites are smaller and much lighter), but the Eden still does "punch" better.

most gigged P3 rig I have is either a Demeter VTBP-M-800DJ or a Mesa Walkabout into a Berg CN212.
A Tech21 VT Deluxe and bit of compression on the pedal board and its P3 city
gets about 90% of my gigs.

Bigger/outdoor gigs use the same amps into a Berg NV610. It loses a bit on the portability side, but the power and punch factors go up several orders of magnitude so it all evens out in the end.:thumbsup:

My "go to" setup for small-medium sized gigs is Mesa Walkabout Scout (1x12) with a Mesa Subway 1x15 cab. Portability is very good. The Walkabout scout is somewhat awkward being around 50 pounds and cubical, but it's manageable. The Subway 1x15 cab is a dream. It's around 30 pounds and very capable. The Walkabout has a direct out so it's useful for PA supported situation. The drawback to this setup is cost. These are not cheap items, but they are worth every penny. Bigger/outside gigs get the BareFaced 6x10 cabinet with either a Carvin B1500 + dbx 166 compressor unit or Mesa Prodigy. Smaller gigs with no PA support but needing louder volume will get the BareFaced 2x12 with the Carvin or Mesa heads.

Temporary derail.... but how is the piezo on that portamento? Both soloed and with the reg. pickups?

I disconnected it, and upgraded both the preamp and the magnetic pickups, lol. Lots of people over in the large threads on the Portamento love the piezo, but I had issues with the stock pre and am using this bass in rock contexts. So basically I'm not interested in trying to make it sound like an upright, unlike most users.

I may hook it back up one of these days, we'll see. Sorry I'm not much help! Lots of piezo discussion here though: Ibanez Portamento Club

Use an ampeg 410 and 15.

410 by itself for band rehearsal and shows with medium to small size stages with great PA support

Very similar to my upright/practice/acoustic gig rig, an Acoustic Image Clarus 2 and BagEnd S10-D. I have also run a pair of Avatar SB-126's from this little head.

Most of the time though, my grab-n-go is this Mesa Walkabout/Scout 15 combo.
