Whats your next Bass ?

I'm really happy with the ones I have. But, for the kind of group I'm looking for and considering starting on my own, I think a semi-hollow would be fantastic, something like a Warwick Star Bass or a Gretsch, or maybe an Eastwood if I want to keep the cost down. But I'm not going to seriously consider buying one until I end up in a band that actually starts playing out. Until/unless that happens, then what I've got now keeps me smiling.

The next one is parts down in my basement. It's a slow process, which is good. The longer it takes for me to finish it, the longer it will be before I start plotting the next adventure in GAS.

It will be a sweet bass at a killer price, that just appears to me when I'm not really looking for or wanting another bass. It always happens like that.

I have a luthier friend that I have conversations with and we both like the Gibson EB/SG body style and I'm guessing something along these lines just might occur:

Perhaps with modern electronics including sweepable filters and stack pots for fewer knobs. It's kinda fun to know I have total control over choices like that. Might actually start with a vintage husk, hmmm...

There are two I have in mind.

I just built a bass from a kit, and would like to build another. As I don't have a hollow body bass, I was considering this kit:

Nice. The kits are fun. I did a violin but the finish came out bad. Did a Les Paul guitar and now doing another violin bass. Thinking of a Ric kit next and doing the McCartney psychadelic paint job since I could not do that to my real Rics.

I enjoyed the Pbass kit I built so thought I'd give the hollow body a go.

They are fun. Have not taken pictures of the Les Paul finished. I changed what it came with for Seymour Duncan pickups and a good wiring kit. Here it is part done.

For me, the Pedulla Buzz is still the absolute zenith of fretless bass design. I've only played one once, at concert volume through a brilliant EA rig. I was blown away. Now, I'm getting to a position where I'm ready to commit the cash to a high end bass again and my playing is better than ever.

My next bass is a Jazz build, using a mixture of Fender, Grover and Allparts material. Hoping to have it in service by the new year.

My next one is in the works at Eric's Guitar, modifying a Vox Apache 2 30" scale bass with built in amp and speaker to a 24" scale using the neck of a Rondo Hadean bass uke and a narrower Chinese bridge repositioned for scale. HipShot license ultralight clover tuners are on the way, plus I gave Eric two sheets of burl wood veneer to replace the pickguard and add to the faceplate. Will be using LaBella Deep Talkin' 25" flatwound Gold Tone exclusive strings.

At some point I will have to acquire a 3/4 double bass.
As for now:
I'm a Precision guy, but my thoughts constantly wander towards an all black Fender Aerodyne Jazz. Meanwhile the price keeps rising. Might have to sell more blood.

I',m expecting one of these (Eastwood Flying V) to arrive late this week. Yeah, I've read the horror story thread here, but I've had good luck with Eastwood (I have a Magnum bass, and a Sidejack baritone guitar), so we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, when you're a lefty, you take what you can get; unless you want to look at an empty instrument stand...
When it gets here, and assuming it 's a keeper, I will have everything I want - except a 34" scale hollow body - not a semi, a true hollow body - bass. One of these would be nice, but my '94 Broadkaster is the only lefty Gretsch bass I've ever seen. But, there's gotta be a lefty White Falcon out there somewhere...

I will either be hunting for another or maybe just get a G&L Kiloton 5...
